First all - thanks to everybody who has posted on the topic, lots of good info here.

My truck is stock, and I have no plans to lift or level it at this time. And like everybody else I have found the OEM Goodyear tires to be woefully lacking.

I have not made up my mind yet on replacements - debating on 275/60 R20 (Stock) vs 275/65 R20. The more I research the more questions I find - now I am trying to decide if should also upgrade to to LT tires as well. I want to balance durability as well and enjoying a comfortable ride.

Also I am lucky - my truck is not my daily driver - I get to use it for truck things, like running around local forest service roads here in western Washington, or pulling a two horse trailer around.

I am thinking the 275/65 R 20 LT tire will be my ultimate choice, though I am a bit concerned about the price.

If you're pulling a trailer and doing truck things then LT tires are the way to go for their higher load rating and general durability. 275 65 20 is the size I like to run and I haven't had any issues and they aren't really any more than 275 60 20 price wise for the same tire. There are a lot of LT tires at different price points based on your budget and enough tire threads here to help you decide.

In SD, LT tires do cost more than P, in general. But not enough that I'd be concerned, and the extra plys are nice. When I bought my Hankook Dynapro ATm tires (fantastic in the snow, in the wet, everywhere), the price difference between four P275/60R20 and four LT275/65R20 was approximately $200 in total.

Agree all, LT 275/65 R20 are the right way to go. Down to the KO2 or Ridge Grapplers. Will post a few pictures once I pull the trigger

LT tires all day. Hate the P tires on a pickup.

I have the KO2 and am around 40k on them already and love them but they seem to need balancing once a year for me. May want to buy lifetime balance if you can.

couple of things to keep in mind on LT tires: they are stiffer , ride quality will change ( stiffer) , are heaver go too heavy and it will affect breaking and ware of pads rotors & bearings , take a higher psi which can effect the TPMS & ride quality ( IE stiffer) al these things are less noticeable on a 2500 because some off the effects are negated by heaver duty parts also the trucks frames are much heaver .

I work my 1500 hard during the spring, summer and fall I weighed all the pros and cons of LT to P and went with P I may only get 4 years but that is ok with me @$1k

That is exactly my concern. What P tires are you running? I wonder if the slightly taller side wall (65 on the LT vs 60 on OEM P) would mitigate the increased stiffness?
