Hello folks, I’m currently getting ready to change my Oil and get a sample into Blackstone. My question is; is a engine flush with Lubegard flush good on an engine with 140,*** miles on it? I have heard that this type of action could lead to leaks in higher mileage engines. Is this true? I’m running Redline 5W30 with RP 20-820 filter. Prior to this combo, I used K&N Gold with PUP 5W20 and before that, wasn’t mine. Any info is greatly appreciated before I do anything.

Thanks!

Ive never heard of this so im watching. Question, i know 5w20 is recommended but i see all the good info on 5w30 on these 5.7's especially with redline but is this only for warm climates? I wondering with winter coming if i should hold off to make the switch. Appreciate any info.

If you want you want to switch to Redline and are worried about the cold their 0W30 is a great oil by all accounts.

I am considering switching to the 0W30 myself after my PUP 5W30 and PUP 0W40 stock is used up.

My truck is super quiet running this combo and I run it year round with no worries.

I would never use any flushing product on an engine. Rapid dislodging of large deposits could plug oil passages.

IF there’s a build up of sludge or varnish then it’s safer to just reduce the oil change intervals and use oil with a good detergent package. For example start changing at 1k intervals for a few times. I’ve successfully done this on used older vehicles and it cleans them out with none of the risk.

If you live in Gulfport, MS go ahead and run the 5W30 year around, I do and I live in a very similar climate and it doesn't get cold enough to worry about it. It snows here on average once every 9 years and rarely gets in the teens in the winter and I don't have any problems.

I wouldn't put any kind of a flush in a engine at all, especially one with 140,000, it will break up varnish and gum that is in the mains and rod bearings, and clog up oil passages

So it uses lxe which is in biotech as well, esters are known engine flushes. As you see no solvents, which are dangerous. I will check sds.

LUBEGARD Engine Flush with LXE® Technology is a premium synthetic blend that contains special detergents and dispersants and NO harmful solvents that will damage seals & gasket

SDS seams to be esters and calcium which are both mild cleaners. I don't think doing it like they suggest will do much, idle 15 minutes?

I would expect this product to work against surface sludge but not really against varnish. If it were me, I'd get some cheap oil and maybe even leave old filter on, then add this product to new walmart oil or similar. drive a couple hundred miles, and then do your thing.

If you use it on new oil, you can see if there was any sludge in the engine as the dip stick would get very much darker. Adding it to old oil, maybe it will work, but you'd never know if it did anything.

Alright guys, glad I inquired about this. I bought this 10oz bottle paired with a 10oz bottle of Lubegard engine protectant. As for 5w30, I’m changing to 5 quart 0w20 and 2 quart 5w20 this next oil change as last winter I ran 5w20 during our 5 month winter of weather getting to -40C and higher with cold piston slap. Just doing some experimenting on this new found glory juice! lol.
Thanks again guys!

I live in Idaho which obviously it gets fairly cold in the winter (30s-40s most of the time) Runs fine with 5w30 Redline.
