I recently got myself a 2012 Dodge Ram Big Horn, Quad Cab Hemi 5.7L with only 50k on it and loving it so far. Don't know nearly enough about the hemi engines as i would like but I swung by the dealership last week to go over some interior issues before the bumper to bumper warranty expires and had an oil change done at the same time. I'm not a gear head but know enough that the dealerships will feed you BS about maintenance on a newer veh and they gave me the following list to take care of as if they expected me to come back there for every oil change:

- Hemi Tune up $466.80 + tax
- Fuel Induction Service $189.99 + tax
- Front & Rear Differential Services $290 + tax

I should mention i'm in Canada so those are canadian prices but still ridiculous. I'm assuming the front and rear dif are just replacing the dif fluids which I can do myself but I wanted to check with someone more familiar with the Hemi if the others can be done myself as well and what actually needs done when they say "tune up". Cheers

Do the fluids yourself. Use synthetic, correct weights too.

The tune up is just a spark plug change. How many miles on the truck? 2 plugs per cylinder. Some posts here describing the process. Not too bad.

Skip the fuel induction service. It's just a money maker for the dealer.

Change plugs and oil yourself if you've got a place to do it. Front and rear diffs don't need servicing for another 40K, all you need to do is pull the fill caps and make sure the level is correct and there's no signs of wear or water/condensation in the oil. Fuel induction is a BS job, they just clean the throttle body and add some fuel system stabilizer/cleaner to the tank. Pull the TB yourself and clean it, again lots of threads on here how to do it properly.

- Hemi Tune up $466.80 + tax ?????

I called a few dealerships and was quoted roughly the same, then went to where I bought truck new, and they came in at 150.00 cheaper IF I needed the pcv replaced.
when I told my service advisor what I was quoted other places, he stated there is a hourly rate for work and a different hourly rate for maintenance work.
I'd check around.
What I like about the dealership where I go, the advisors DONT push things on ya
EXCEPT for the 4 oil chages for 65 bucks

This is rates in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The tune was 289.00 and the pcv was 62.00

SOOOOO do your homework
and FYI Pep Boys and places like that will **** you stay clear of them
