Ed, my prayers for you during this time that the Lord will heal you and restore your health.

Agreed with the other replies.

As you know, not having a pickup stinks. There have only been a few times in my life to date I haven't and I've missed it.

A utility trailer is a pita to hook up and deal with, but if your health is going to dictate what you can and can't do, I completely understand.

Agreed on newer vehicles! I didn't care for the 2020 Cherokee I had. Tail lights kept fogging even after 1 replacement under warranty (all of them), the touch screen controlled everything (not a fan) and the automatic engine stop/ start totally stinks! I really grew to hate that.

Dealer gave me the best buy back, including carvana, carmax. Treated me great. Only put 2700 miles on it so it was a waste (bought pre pandemic when I worked from an office 5 days/ week

Good luck all around Sir!

God's blessings on you,
Greg

Hey, slo. I ran my truck through Carvana and Vroom twice and gotten offers within 30 seconds. Also never heard from any other follow ups.
I haven’t heard anything back except from a random dealership. They’ve texted emailed and called me since I put the info in at carvana. Idk what went wrong.

Same here. Direct dealings and no not-asked-for contacts from others.

Although I will add, when I did the KBB instant offer, I had a bunch of random dealers call me. Not the same experience with the other two though

It's part of the reason I sold my Orange Truck in March. It wasn't as hot as it is now but it was hot. It was tough since there was nothing wrong with it but it was worth way more than I was expecting.

I got a great deal on my 2018 and KBB says I can get 38K when I paid 30K two months ago..

I would sell it if you don't need it. I doubt it's ever going to more than right now.

Carvana is easy and straightforward. I have sold them 3 cars. They want nice cars with no stories and if that’s what you have it’s the way to go. There is no haggling when they show up. They have a check written to you for the agreed amount. I have two friends who have now bought two cars each from them—and will probably never go in a dealership again. Ones wife even returned the car and chose another after a couple days. Not a word .

Wow. I have a nice 2018 2500 Tradesman, Lear top, steel gray, nice wheels, bedliner, rear air bags, and extra front led lights. And coated. But it's exactly what I want. Only 14000 miles, so I could pbly get enuf for a down payment on a car or suv thing, but haven't even seen anything I like....
Hard to tell one from another.

Altho my boss just bought an Audi 4RS. Dang thing takes off so fast my head comes unglued... NOTHING like old supercars, he's pulled 2.1 g's in it. Yup, it has a gauge for that....
Just a bit too much for an old lady.
Worse than riding on that swinging boat thing or a fast rollercoaster.

The "good" Chargers/Challengers are cop magnets. Wish I'd kept my 66.
Guess I'll just keep my boring old truck.

My CTS-V has the G force gauge, but I prefer watching the boost gauge haha.

OK , Guys. Just got back from the hospital and my confirmation visit with my oncologist. Turns out I have what’s called a multiple myeloma which means I have a disease in my white blood cells. On paper it’s not as solid a diagnosis as ‘conventional’ cancers but the fact that it’s in the blood means it travels easy through the body. I’m starting a drug/injection therapy in a week that he says is quite successful at controlling this but there is no cure. I’m quite at peace with the news and am going to live the hell out of every day.
On the truck front I picked my rig up at a local dealer (not Ram) for an inspection only and as expected a salesman jumped me as soon as I got out of my wife’s car. When I pointed out my truck and said I needed no help he asked me if I wanted to trade or sell. Long story short, he said to come back Monday and talk to the owner about purchasing it. I’ll give it a shot because my truck has a Diamondback cover on it ($2300) and if I can make it simple, I will. I don’t think any of the online buyers would give me squat for the cover. We’ll see.
My most important message, however, is the thoughts and prayers from you guys to someone you never met.

I will also continue to pray for you even though I have never met you doesn't matter to me. God bless you and be with you.

Great attitude Ed F and may God be with you!

Have been down in dumps lately about trivial nonsense and your post was a wakeup call to me to be happy and not sweat the small stuff like what to do with my ageing Ram....

I sold my truck a couple of weeks ago for a price I couldn't say no to.
On all the extras I got 80 cents on the dollar for, which is very good. In the past I usually got 30-40 cents on the dollar for Carli or other high end suspension systems.

All in all after I sold ,original used purchase price plus all the extra goodies (wheels, tires, Carli suspension, XPEL), it cost me $2500 to drive that truck for 2 years which is pretty damn good.
Part of it was finding a good deal on the truck to begin with, I managed to buy from the original owner for wholesale.

I tried to sell it last summer, but I could not get anywhere near what I wanted. I had it up for sale for 4 weeks, without a sniff.

2 weeks ago I posted it for the same price and it was gone in 8 hours with a deposit.

There is definitely a bubble within the auto market, what was wholesale mere months ago is now retail.
This cannot last, the chip shortage will end and the stimulus will fade.

I owned the truck outright so now I have money in the bank and I will wait patiently for the right deal. Unfortunately, patience will mean buying a beater truck to get me through the next year.
My prediction is you will see prices fall dramatically in 12 months time.

Half-tons have the worst depreciation amongst vehicles as well. So anyone expecting this to continue is fooling themselves.
I've always targets trucks 3 years old when I buy. You can usually still buy from the original owner at that point and they've taken the worst of the depreciation curve. Look at nearly every vehicle and the curve is the steepest within the first 3 years, after that it flattens out.

I’ve been considering doing the same and I get an affiliate rewards discount thru my company which prices new vehicles at 1% below dealer invoice. The catch is, the website that you have to use to get your specific “control number” from FCA is down! FCA claims that they upgraded the site a few weeks ago and have been working on the issue ever since…. Coincidence? I doubt it!

Sorry to hear that. Obviously we've never met, but I'll add you to our prayer list as well. I've had many family members and friends affected by various cancers (who hasn't these days :-( ), so while I can never understand what it is to go through it yourself I feel for you and your family. Love the attitude to keep living life, stay positive, and know you are in the thoughts and prayers of many. God bless.
