Hi guys! Got a question here. By turning MDS off using - + selector could it harm transmission . I've got Hemi 8 speed. Love to use 8 cylinders all the time and hope it prevents lifters and cam damage. But would it damage my transmission? Any ideas?

Nope should be good. All its doing is putting it into manual mode but you're not actually selecting a gear so it runs through the gears automatically. I'd reccomend a tuner 100% tho. More power and you ca shut and keep mds off. I turned mine off and noticed zero change in mileage and being straight piped it stopped sounding retarded whhd it went into 4 cyl mode.

Anytime I drive below about 50 mph I drive with the trans locked into "7". This keeps the engine from "lugging down" and shifting into 8 and overdrive while driving around town. If you can lock the trans in 8 I think that will keep the MDS from coming on. As has been said if you get a custom tune you can lock MDS out permanently.

Love my MDS. Lots of highway miles on my daily commute and it performs flawlessly.

I only use the gear selector when driving in hilly areas around me and chose 7 as the highest gear. I don't use the feature around town as I'm never really any faster than 35mph nor do I use it at highway cruising speeds.

I disable MDS. Gas mileage is dismal and found that turning off and adjusting gears myself has improved mileage by at least 1.5 mpg and feel truck is more responsive. At least in my opinion. Truck is more sure footed as well. I came from 2010 Sport, 5 speed, 3.92 gears into a 2017 Laramie 8 speed 3.21 gears thinking mileage would be better. It's same or worse and miss the 2010 5 speed / 3.92 gears AND sport growl.
