Mirror Camera View moved to big screen but lost my cargo

I have a 2014 Laramie Limited 3500 that only had backup camera view in the mirror. I found a group that sold an upgrade wiring harness that connected in the pillar and back of radio to correct the problem but I had already done a Uconnect software update and have gone past the version 17 that it must have to perform the new function. I'm into the latest version 18....... They want $300 to send my radio in and they will change the software to the version that works???? yuck !!!!

My camera still works in the mirror and if I push the cargo view in Settings it shows the back up on the full screen, but it does not come on automatically and I've lost my cargo view completely.

Is there another way to get that lower version back operating in my unit?? seems there's always a snag around every corner trying to get my Ram perfected.

The 13 to 15 radios show the backup camera in the rear view mirror when equipped with the cargo cam option. There was a software update 17.11.07 that had a glitch that allowed the 13 to 15 radio to function like the 16 and 17 radios and have both the backup cam and cargo cam to display on the screen. The update probably removed the glitch from your radio. If you were to install a 16 or 17 RA3 (VP3 NA)or RA4 (VP4NA)Nav radio it would correct your issue as long as you put your trucks wiring back to stock. I have a 16 radio in my 14 and they both display on the screen. You can pick up 16 and 17 RA3 radios on Ebay pretty easily for $250 to $350 and 16 and 17 RA4 radios for around $400 to $500. You can install that radio and not have to worry about any patches or wiring and it will show on the screen. You can easily sell your current radio to offset some or all of the of the costs and be done with it. This is the route most guys have gone because there is less chance of having any updates in the future causing issues. Just remember if you ever need to update it use the firmware for the correct year. You may also want to try reverting all of your wiring back to stock and see if it corrects your issue. The 18.45.01 firmware is not year specific so putting it back to stock might do the trick. This is a pic of my 16 RA4 in my 14. It shows both in the screen without any special wiring or patches.

Thanks for sharing all the detail you did. I did the software update before changing the wiring harness and all I could get was rear view at mirror nothing on big screen but then could press cargo in settings and get cargo view. So to your suggestion to return to factory wiring it doesn’t seem logical to get full function. At least this way I do get the back up view on big screen but just not in auto mode.
