Aw the land yachts! My Charger is a big boy too. Not that big, but big.View attachment 250355. Corinthian leather! See who remembers those commercials! 1979 Chrysler Cordoba! This was when you could still still see the end of the hood in front of you. I always liked a long hood, One you needed binoculars to see the hood emblem of the car you're driving! LOL
Aw yes. The new Chargers are still the best looking 4 door cars made today! They hide the 4 door look so well!Aw the land yachts! My Charger is a big boy too. Not that big, but big.
They really are sexy beasts. I do like the CTS-V's too. I wish they still made that in a wagon.Aw yes. The new Chargers are still the best looking 4 door cars made today! They hide the 4 door look so well!
A little story when I had this car. It was not a race car by any stretch but it had a 360 in it, I got rid of the ridiculous lean burn system it had on it and put a thermoquad 4 bbl carburetor on it, a 340 camshaft and it would run with anything "In it's class". One night when my wife and I was going home on a 2 lane back road (this was around 1986) and I was running around 10 MPH over the speed limit as it was when I could see 2 motorcycles coming up behind me very quickly. For whatever reason the front one was riding on the double line and decided to put his high beam on and put it in my driver side mirror. He rode like that for a couple miles and then they decided to pass me and when both of them passed me they was pointing up towards the sky with their middle finger. (For some reason when some people get a motorcycle between their legs they become the baddest M & Fer alive) I seen nothing interesting that they was pointing at! Well I was still young and dumb at age 26 and I knew I couldn't out run them but I decided to see how fast they wanted to go. This car only registered 85 MPH (For some reason the government had all cars do that at the time) so I never knew how fast I was going, but I caught up to them and of course they sped up and every time they tried to slow down I just made that 4 bbl moan and kept on them and wouldn't let them slow down. I did that for a couple miles and having to hear my wife screaming at me to slow down I decided to quit and let them go. They went out of sight and my wife kept giving me the "What were you thinking" speech and then ask me what I was going to do if they decided to block the road up ahead and I replied, "Just hold on because if they are that stupid I'm going to keep them from multiplying making more stupid people! Only Clint Eastwood on tv could stop a car with a motorcycle" Never seen them again and that was the end of the subject between my wife and I.View attachment 250355. Corinthian leather! Ah, rose colored memories lol. Don't confuse platforms.....Cordoba was last of the B body evolution. C bodies were the land yachts. Ironically your Charger (and mine) weigh almost as much as a C body....my '74 Monaco was 4700 lbs.Aw the land yachts! My Charger is a big boy too. Not that big, but big.
Yes, no cars in those year models was anything to brag about! LOLAh, rose colored memories lol. Don't confuse platforms.....Cordoba was last of the B body evolution. C bodies were the land yachts. Ironically your Charger (and mine) weigh almost as much as a C body....my '74 Monaco was 4700 lbs.
Your Charger is marginally shorter, about the same width but almost a full 1000 lbs heavier than that 'doba. Thankfully it has a much better engine lol. Even the 400 in those was horribly underpowered.
Yeah the 70s after 72, really 71 was a joke. Pontiac kept it going some, but wow to go from almost 500 supposed HP to low 100s is crazy. My dad bought a 82 Z28 new and I think it had a whopping 145 hp lol. Ford we have to thank, because without the Foxbody we probably wouldn't have the return to the glory days with the big 3 battling it out. I know with the fox body 225 hp and 305 tq wasn't a lot, but man they responded well to the mods. Super easy to work on. I loved the fuel injection set ups. Throw what ever you wanted at it and with a 60 buck idle air spacer, this allowed you to basically tune it to idle like a carburetor, oh the fun I had in them. My parents had a Pontiac Firebird 305/5 Spd I believe car most of my younger life.Yes, no cars in those year models was anything to brag about! LOL
I had a half baked notion some years back to take one of those 'dobas/Mirada/Imperials and make a sleeper out of one with a 3G or 4G hemi.View attachment 250392. 1983 Cordoba, fake convertible top I had around 1991 area. One of the 318 slugs I had. I liked the ride but the power was non-existent! It has dark blue velour interior with an automatic in the floor console!
That would have been Bada$$! That's the kind of things I like to do. Love to see the looks on people's faces when something like that just whipped up on them! Priceless! LolI had a half baked notion some years back to take one of those 'dobas/Mirada/Imperials and make a sleeper out of one with a 3G or 4G hemi.
The mechanicals would've been the easy part....those velour interiors...... [emoji2961]That would have been Bada$$! That's the kind of things I like to do. Love to see the looks on people's faces when something like that just whipped up on them! Priceless! Lol
I know that's why I called it our Mopar Rapid Transit System. If it was Dodge, Plymouth or Chrysler it was simply Mopar to us. We didn't discriminate! LOL Thank GOD politically correct didn't exist back then!Yeah but the 1970 RTS was Plymouth only lol, just as the same year Scat Pack was Dodge only. I loved their ads, especially because Plymouth put a big old honkin Sport Fury in the middle of them:

Yes, I had 2 '69 Plymouth Sport Fury's. Both had the automatic in the floor, one with white interior and one with black interior. They were both nice cars to me!Yeah but the 1970 RTS was Plymouth only lol, just as the same year Scat Pack was Dodge only.
