So these arent bright enough to be used as low beams?

Who said they aren't bright enough for lows? I have them in fogs and lows and work excellent
The product description on the TRS website says "these are a great choice for drl, highs and fogs" I guess that is just cya for them since they are so much brighter than regular lights...

FWIW I did find some that look really similar on eBay for about $65-70 that ship directly from China.... At least the bulb assembly is anyway, the ballast looks much smaller. The price isn't bad but they only have a 30 warranty at best (some have none). For the extra $30 TRS includes a 2 year warranty. Based on Kris's experience it sounds like the smart money is with TRS.

I've used a couple different ebay LED headlight kits and only one was brighter than halogen. since it only had one emitter it was hard to adjust whether it was facing up or down.

This is with the adjustments all the way down and the truck sitting almost level. The rear was sitting just a hair lower.

This was sitting level

It looks good but when driving it didn't seem to place enough light on the road.

These where mounted in oem 13 projectors

Interesting results! I like the cutoff better on the projectors for sure. I agree you can sometimes get good results with cheaper products and I have had in the past. The reason I went with morimoto was cause that's what was posted and I decided that I'd cough up the extra to have quality and I'm glad I did. I don't feel the scatter is as bad as HIDs and the light is better than halogen, with the look of HIDs and doesn't blind oncoming traffic. Even with the Sylvania and Piaa bulbs I had before which were better than stock it's nowhere in comparison. I drive to the country 2 to 3 times a month and it gets dark out there! I'm really looking forward to seeing how these perform out there, I did get a chance this am to see if oncoming traffic would be blinded and flash at me on the way to the gym at 530, since very few cars on the road so I'd be isolated and not one person flashed, I think that speaks volumes for having these in a halogen housing. I was going to put led pods in the fog light holes but I'm happy with these results and I'll probably just put a bar in between the tow hooks if I keep the truck.

If im gonna pay $200 i want them to be close to hid brightness as possible. The pro is they are less of a headache than hids.

So which ones have you tired and which did you use for those pics?

Are you saying that you don't use them anymore?

First set where these (not the exact ones but just about the same). Not bad, just as bright as halogens. Moved them to the fogs.

Next were these. These where the ones in the pics I posted.

And the most recent ones. I'm not to impressed with these as headlights. Going to try them as fogs.

The first ones where as bright as halogens maybe a tad brighter. The 2nd set where brighter than halogen but just couldn't aim them right. The 3rd were the same as halogen.

This is the kind of stuff that makes forums awesome!! I have looked at all those kits on ebay and almits pulled the trigger on the second set until I found this thread. Thanks for taking time to share your experience.

Tell me about

Thanks for all that info. I too have been staring at the 2nd ones on ebay for a long time. Just wasn't sure if they would come anywhere close to HIDs.

Strange that the 3800LM ones are not the brightest.

I got some off eBay and they have just the heat sink and wire without that little box. They are the version 1 2800 lumen 6000k. The version 2 are now 3000 lumen bulbs and say 5-6000k color. Mine were like $60 and had them almost a month with a lot of rain and no issues yet. They are a lot brighter than stock bulbs. Not quite as bright as the hid's I had but close and the color is good on these. They have 2 led's on each.

Well, retrohops just added the Morimoto LEDs to the website for ordering. I will be placing my order by the end of the week. Thanks to all that provided their experiences and pics.

Old school fogs = KC Daylighters

Old school fogs = KC Daylighters mounted to a custom aluminum bracket that is bolted to my bumper, even though they appear to be bolted to my bumper cover...

My fog lights are 35W LED (have been for a while) - and they look really cool and work great when the road is dry and there is no fog, but in actual thick fog like we had in Houston this morning, I prefer to punch a solid beam of old school light through the fog...

Will these fit in a morimoto mini h1 projector? If so I would rather install these in my quads than my hids!

Just found out that the morimoto led headlights were so popular that TRS is out of stock. They hope to be able to ship my order some time next month :(

From what I have read here and some other car forums they are much brighter than stock but not quite as bright (and much less scatter) than HIDs when used without a projector.

LED fogs will be my next mod. I've been happy with the Morimoto products. I have their switchbacks and they work great
