So to update my tails continue to have the passenger tail light only stop working , blinks intermittenly then goes out only allowing the brake and turn signal to work.... I've swapped taillights to opposite sides to have the same symptom occur on the pass side only ...... I've disconnected any aftermarket lighting ( tail gate light bar , third brake light , hitch receiver light etc) only to have same result.

Returning these lights seems to be one of my only options as I ordered these through [email protected] who got them thru TRS....neither of which can seem to give me any help for this issue .

Better off sticking with my vipmotoz led c shaped tail lights.

Do you have a scan tool that is capable of reading the fault codes in the BCM? Knowing if the fault is “open circuit” or “short to ground” could help.

Other users have had the same issue .... My other set of led tails work flawlessly I don't see that being an issue . But no I don't have a scan tool. . one thing I might try today is my license plate lights swap them.bsck to OEM .

Would a scanner pick up a fault without any error messages on the dash?

Do you have led license plate bulbs?

So if you buy the Morimoto tails you can’t have led 3rd brake or cargo lights and no led license plate lights either?

I'm sure you can, as long as they are all morimoto :)

@BEAST19, @bigred74- i know you guys have 1500s, but I’ve got a long shot idea for you guys to check into. There’s a circuit on the BCM for 2500/3500 trucks that is specifically there to ground for when upfitters install flatbeds or utility beds that have aftermarket rear facing LED lights. It shuts down all rear facing light fault detection so the aftermarket LEDs don’t throw errors or shut down.

If you look up behind the brake pedal, you’ll see the BCM. xAVoSK8.jpg

Unplug the connector that the red arrow is pointing to, and see if there is a green wire with white stripe populated in position 29. Here is the location of pin 29 on the BCM, so it will be the corresponding position on the connector. Also, make sure it is that exact pin location, because there is another green/white wire on that connector for something else. 71tpx0T.jpg

If the wire is there, you can locate the blunt cut end of it in the fuse box area and ground it. If it’s not there, let me know, and there’s another option.

The easiest thing to do would be use the AlfaOBD to disable the rear facing bulb detection feature via programming rather than ground that wire.

I know this doesn’t solve the issue that the lights don’t work out of the box, but, if this corrects the issue, it will give TRS something to go off of to help them make adjustments on the lights themselves for future customers.
