I currently have a FLO~PRO dual in/dual out muffler installed on my truck. It was already on there from the previous owner. 2013 Ram 1500 5.7 HEMI.

Question is should I install an x pipe before the muffler? The flo pro does not have the x pipe core. I confirmed this with them.

Or should I consider the Magnaflow Tru X muffler?

Any suggestions welcome. :)

Should you, yes. Do you have to, no.
Having an x or H will promote scavenging up to a certain rpm. Once the rpms get high enough the exhaust pulses are so close together the scavenging effect is negated.

What size are the exhaust pipes? Do you have long tube headers?
Correctly sized header and exhuast pipes play a greater role in determining where the powerband will be. Having a crossover just completes the package.

Thanks for the reply. It appears to be 2.25" pipe. Could be 2.5". It is the stock manifolds. From what I can see the y pipe has been removed and a pipe welded in on the left side to have two pipes coming into the muffler and back out to dual pipes running out the back. All cats and resonators are in place. It just looks like the muffler was replaced with a dual in/dual out.

The truck seems to run fine. It's not my first Ram but it's the newest one since my 1999 I had.

Since I know this is not the stock muffler and setup that normally comes on this truck I just wanted to be sure it was optimal.

I did speak with Flo Pro about the muffler and they said that they do not make an x pipe muffler like Magnaflow or others might make.

So with that in mind I was just wanting to know if I kept the Flo Pro and added an x pipe would it add any benefit?

Ok thanks again.

I have decided to go ahead and have a Magnaflow 12468 installed on the truck.

Update: Got the Magnaflow 12468 Dual In/Dual Out 2.5" in yesterday. The muffler cost about $119+tax. I researched on Magnaflow's site first then found it on Amazon and used my Prime account and had some rewards points to shave some more off and used the one-day shipping. :naughty:

Went to local muffler shop this morning. Installed $60 flat. He had to add a little "s pipe" on the right tailpipe and a small piece to join the left tail to the muffler. That was it! :superhack:

Sound is much deeper than the Flo~Pro muffler. Quiet at idle/cruising but when you accelerate it sounds really good. A refined sound if I were to describe it. ;) I still have the factory resonators by the way.

The Flo~Pro was ok too but it doesn't compare to the Magnaflow sound and it wasn't a cross-flow muffler more baffled so it needed help. Plus it has the built in X-pipe that helps. It seems to have a bit more bottom end now.:waytogo:

Yep. The 12468 is 18" (body) Tru X. I have always liked Magnaflow. My 1999 has one too (single in/dual out). My son has that truck now.

I had the 14" Magnaflow on my 09 and it sounded awesome. It was just tye muffler swap. The set up I have now with the 18" is louder and deeper.
