mystery button help needed

Hi there. I think it is an add-on because it is not in the manual but this button is on my used 2016 Ram limited cummins 4x4 mega cab I just bought.

Can anyone tell me what this is/does?

Unscrew it and see if theres a mfg or part# on the back

It does nothing that I can see, hear or feel. I tried it with accessory on, and with truck running. No messages or light on dash, no light on the unit itself, no chimes or dings.

These 3 wires come off the back of it and run straight upwards toward the steering column and instrument cluster.

My Key fob is normal dodge dealership type

NOT attached to the switch but deeper under the dash in the same general area is this fuse spliced in that doesn't seem factory either.

Could be a turbo timer. Try pressing it, and then shutting the truck down. If it's a timer the truck will continue to run for a bit before it stops running. They keep help save the turbo bearing from coking up.

It almost looks like my SmartDrive panic button for a dashcam in my CMV. The mounting is a bit low for that though...

The reviews on it are all over the web. Evidently its a dealer add-on. Starter interupt switch. If you google it, then select IMAGES, you will see pulls from a bunch of forums with folks asking the same....What the hell is this?

Thx I finally saw the same switches under images.

So I guess mine must have the inert chip that disables it. So they hacked into all that wiring and it does nothing and isn't worth having. Great!!

Yeah. Sorry. All that tapping in there.. id unscrew it and ziptie out of sight if it bothers you. Just buy a Pedal Commander and install it over the holes!!!

If the truck is a former rental car, its probably a gps tracker and call for service button for the remtal agency.. i seen one similar to yours on a Ram rental i had a few months ago..
