unless you plan on spending what the trucks worth i would find a used low mileage engine with a warranty from a junk yard and throw it in if the engine is for sure blown.

Ask the shop who puts it in, see how they deal with core or block.

Got a diagnosis from dealer cam and lifters are in great shape issue is positively bottom end realy hoping it was just a catastrophic failure of the oil pump going to take off the oil pan check some bearings and pull the front cover and check the pump

did the dealer pop the oil control valve? That is usually what they gauge if metal is throughout your engine.

Update oil changed runs great firm belief that valvoline restore and protect cleaned engine to well plugged up filter or pick up tube causing pressure loss only issue is now cylinder 2 is tapping hoping a good engine flush thinking some sludge varnish is preventing lifter from fully pumping up the dealer did not instill any confidence with what they stated i believe they were just after my money

Tapping usually not good, question is, what is tapping?

Metal in oil not good, had to come from somewhere.

Did the dealer inspect every cam lobe? There's 16 of them to check. As others have said, the oil control valve is the place to look.

Does the tapping go away or lessen when the engine warms up? If so, possibly broken exhaust manifold bolts.

I hope your issue is resolved. The glitter in the oil is what would worry me. Broken exhaust manifold bolts would not have anything to do with that.

Problem is...... as you started thread saying you lost oil pressure & had metal shavings.
Was this not true???
Putting different oil in engine will not solve above.

We used to pour in a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment into the oil fill and drive it for a good few hundred KM's.

Ensuring you got it to operating temps and then also fleeced it a few times as well.

Then dump and do an oil & filter change with less expensive oil & filter for another few hundred KM's...

Then dump and put in the good stuff! Seafoam is no joke and works very well.

Heck, to clean the intake and upper chambers, we used to pull the vacuum hose off the brake booster, someone held about 2000rpm in the vehicle while another siphoned (allowed the air to cavitate on the top of the liquid, whilst drawing from the open can of Seafoam... not submerging the hose in the can fully) until the can was empty...

Shut off the engine and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes (obviously reinstalling the brake booster hose...lol) and then firing it up and driving good and spiritedly until there was no more smoke.

This was magic... and then also dumped a full can in the gas tank as well to clean the fuel system. The good ole' days :)

EDIT - however, after all this Seafoam treatment.... we would then proceed to replace the spark plugs and clean the throttle body & PCV valve afterward as things got pretty gummy after a thorough Seafoam treatment process ;)

Burned up the rod & main bearing in a newly remanded Ford 302 by replacing one qt of oil 5w30 out of 6 qts with ATF then driving it a few days, drive speeds never were faster than 60 mph

I highly doubt the ATF burned up a rod and main bearing, that was probably more because they didn't have the proper clearance. If it was due to the ATF they would of all went south, not just 1 of each

I guess I was not fully clear with my post, I burned up all 8 rod & all main bearings, the company that build the engine sent them all back to my installer after they tore it down an inspected the engine, dont recall if they said any thing about cam bearings, I was lucky I got a replacement engine before them getting that one back...
