unless you plan on spending what the trucks worth i would find a used low mileage engine with a warranty from a junk yard and throw it in if the engine is for sure blown.Hello all 2013 ram 1500 5.7 truck is still in good enough shape but lost oil pressure and metal in the oil need a new engine anyone have a suggestion jasper, fraser, powertrain products looking at mds delete while im there
did the dealer pop the oil control valve? That is usually what they gauge if metal is throughout your engine.
No i had them stop before they went to far bill at dealer adds up to fast they said can and lifters look fine used bore scope to look poped valve cover nothing there just a little glitter in oil pan and low to no oil pressure there was also a pending cylinder 2 missfire im going to pull the pan front cover and valve cover and do more digging myselfdid the dealer pop the oil control valve? Pull the intake manifold first, and check the VVT solenoids screen over for metal.Fingers crossed its in need of complete motor but if it is unfortunately prepared for the worst but trying to remain optimistic that its just some parts
Problem is...... as you started thread saying you lost oil pressure & had metal shavings. It just continues noisy lifters fairly certain dealer put in wrong oil way to thin changed it again myself runs like a top now i was never shown any proof of metal in the oil or any other “damage” just went off their word i got lucky this time and the dealer tried to take advantage of my misfortune some dealers i swear are just out to get your money whats the world coming to
We used to pour in a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment into the oil fill and drive it for a good few hundred KM's.It just continues noisy lifters fairly certain dealer put in wrong oil way to thin changed it again myself runs like a top now i was never shown any proof of metal in the oil or any other “damage” just went off their word i got lucky this time and the dealer tried to take advantage of my misfortune some dealers i swear are just out to get your money whats the world coming to
Burned up the rod & main bearing in a newly remanded Ford 302 by replacing one qt of oil 5w30 out of 6 qts with ATF then driving it a few days, drive speeds never were faster than 60 mphAt this point not sure if there was even metal in the oil nor do i have the filter or oil they changed but i do know that since i changed the oil it runs fine no noise at all and the oil i had drained ha nothing in it either it was very thin though making me think they put wrong oil in it i changed the oil with mobile 1 5w30 and a quart of atf to clean it out and its quiet and as happy as can be i will change it again in a few days
I highly doubt the ATF burned up a rod and main bearing, that was probably more because they didn't have the proper clearance. If it was due to the ATF they would of all went south, not just 1 of eachBurned up the rod & main bearing in a newly remanded Ford 302 by replacing one qt of oil 5w30 out of 6 qts with ATF then driving it a few days, drive speeds never were faster than 60 mph
I guess I was not fully clear with my post, I burned up all 8 rod & all main bearings, the company that build the engine sent them all back to my installer after they tore it down an inspected the engine, dont recall if they said any thing about cam bearings, I was lucky I got a replacement engine before them getting that one back...I highly doubt the ATF burned up a rod and main bearing, that was probably more because they didn't have the proper clearance. If it was due to the ATF they would of all went south, not just 1 of each
