My 07 Ram 4x4 5.7 has an issue. Under WOT, sometimes it lays you right back in the seat like a rocket, sometimes it is really slow. Under WOT when slow, I can feel small bursts of acceleration.

It always starts/idles great. There are no codes being given. I do not want to just start replacing plugs, wires, etc, and then find out its the torque converter or something.

Anyone ever heard of an issue like this?

Thank you for any help or advice diagnosing this issue.

I just bought the truck a few months ago, I have no idea when it was done. I'll start there.

Thank you

You can make a good estimate how long the plugs have been in by measuring the gap. You'll usually see .001 growth for every 2000 miles. Starting gap is .044-.045 I use the NGK 5306 gapped at .040. and have no misfire codes.

I've had that problem, just not with my Ram. Do not rule out throttle positioning sensor. If I remember a tps will also not throw a code on some vehicles. I just bought my Ram and did the adaptive driving reset and it ran much smoother after that. You pull a certain fuse under the hood and it clears the adaptive memory.

Fuse #23 - 15 amp - Clears the PCM.
