I'm going to be building my own custom fiberglass encloser for 2 jl 12" w3v3 to fit under the seat. My question is if I was going to port the box so it's tuned at 30 hz how would I go about doing it? I'm not sure how to since its an irregular shape

that is going to be tuff because you are limited to space already i would try to stick to a sealed enclosure. maybe some one else might be able to help you. just my opinion. or you can join a audio forum

I did some reading and people say jl sounds better in a ported box.... Who knows. Fox box claims to be able to make theirs so you have 1.55 cu ft on each side. So with that being said I should be able to get that with my box. The w3s recommend 1.25 cu ft, who's knows....

I have seen it done before in a ram quad cab (sorry i cant find the pics) what they did was take out the back seat. notch out the insulation on the back of the cab and ran an external port up behind the rear seat. a dual chamber box with 1 port per sub. these were slot ports

everything i could see on fox box website siad their dual 12" is 1.2cu per sub. the problem with their box is it looks like it makes the front of your seat stick up a little higher and it also eliminates the cup holders.

I had a fox box in my dodge, I got rid of it for that reason. I think it looks cheap covering up the cup holders.

I was able to find a pic.

this is what i have seen

i used to build the boxes this way, just without the ports.

however i dont think you will get enough airspace for 2-12"

Maybe not ported, but def sealed I would. Jl recommends 1.25 in a sealed box and I can get that

I loved W3 sealed I wouldn't hesitate running them like that. I do know that most JL's like a little over recommended space but don't get to crazy with it as output will suffer at higher volumes.

I agree. W3's do very well in a sealed box and you should have no problems building a box with appropriate airspace for two w3's sealed. And yes, JL's do better in higher than recommended airspace. Unfortunately, that goes with ported boxes too. You will have a difficult time finding the airspace for two W3's ported tuned to 30hz....im not saying it can't be done...it'll be tough tho.

10W3's would be no problem
