Do you indeed have it connected to a trailer when it shows that? The truck wire harness connector under the rear of the bed has been known to corrode.

Your trailer wire connection at the truck may be sketchy. Wiring on the trailer could be bad. Ground between the truck and trailer is a common place to have problems. You did indicate you and your buddy did everything exactly the same with the same controllers.

I would say you have a bad controller. Not uncommon for the ChiCom knockoffs.

Otherwise it's pretty difficult to give an informative answer to a vague question.

^^^ exactly what he stated
Depending on the model year of the truck there is actually 3 different ITBMs used with the 2013 through the Classic DS body trucks.

Yeah it’s definitely connected to the trailer trailer pulled fine behind behind my 2018 ford with no issues with the trailer brake controller on that truck I will check the wire harness underneath the truck when the sun comes out

The correct Mopar ITBM kit number is: 82215040AC
As stated above, I would suspect more that it's a flakey aftermarket unit given the number of them that have been reported on this forum. Some people get lucky and are able to request a new aftermarket module where as others ended up going with the OEM one.

OP, go get rid of the Chinese junk and get you an OEM ITBM installed and flashed to the truck BCM.
