I say valve guide seals or possibly a bad PCV valve.

How much would those repairs run at a shop?

I just had my heads done.....

Valve seals- $45
6.1L Valve springs- $145
Labor- $180

Also, $90 to have the heads resurfaced but it looks like you just had that done. I dropped my heads off at the shop so your labor cost would probably be higher if you leave the truck.

I would probably fix the rear main seal first if that's what is leaking in the pic, then you'll know exactly how much oil you might be burning.

Maybe pressure clean or at least brake cleaner blast the oily area to see where the leak is.

If 4 quarts of oil leaked out you would notice. I say top it off and monitor it if it seems to run ok. Maybe it wasn't topped off last change as mentioned. When was the last time u checked it?

It's been awhile since I checked and I'm right at the 3000 mile mark due for another oil change.

I **** you not, the hardest part is busting the drain bolt and filter loose because the grease monkeys put them on too hard.

All ya need is a filter wrench and a crescent wrench. That's it.

Uh, yeah. Doesn't matter if you added oil, it needs to be changed when it needs to be changed. Otherwise that's a good way to make sludge.

Use straight dino oil. You might have found a leak by using the semi-synthetic since it like to slip past the leaks that are there.

The Hemis use either 5W20 or 5W30....I'm thinking the 03-06 uses 5W30. Either way, it'll say on your fill cap. Use whatever is spec'd for it.

Granted, one would think I'd abide by my own advice but I don't.

Yeah will do. Now I just need to fix my sled back up so I have room to pull my truck in the garage to work on that haha. I'm a procrastinator.
