Hi all.

I'm a new 2018 Ram 1500 owner. I want to replace that crappy 5 in. screen radio with something like a Kenwood dual-din touch screen headend. Just about every video I've watched says that the bottom section of the metal single-din bracket needs to be hacked out to make room for a double-din headend.

Can't that whole bracket just be removed? From all the videos/pictures it appears it's only being held in place by a 7mm bolt at the top. I'd appreciate your guidance on this before I take a reciprocating saw to my new truck.

I just cut it with my sawsall. That 5.0 is just nothing but crap. I am so happy that I replaced mine.

2 Bolts need to be removed. Then gently tug around the whole display and then you will disconnect the HVAC controls. The 5inch radio has 4 bolts. Take those bolts and unhook the radio from the harness. There is a bar that will need to be cut so a double din radio can be installed. Look in my post about audio overhaul and you can see my radio installed.
