I switched all four rotors to drilled and slotted and all four brake pads. I get a really loud metal (grind/ 18 wheeler brake sound) when stopping what can it be? Rotors are smooth no warp at all.
please help. It sounds really bad...it gets worst at the end of the day when I run the truck all day

First of all make sure they are in the right way and not backwards, ( I know it sounds stupid, but it can happen.) Secondly I would coat the back of the pad, where the shim lives with a nice heavy coating of disc brake quiet and see if this doesn't help. Also make sure the groove that runs through the middle of the pad is clear. Let me know if this works...

You most likely have a pad clip or backing plate dragging against the rotor. Isolate which wheel it is, disassemble me, find your goof up. Haha

Each of my power stop rotors had a tag indicating the position of each rotor.

My guess is that there was something haywire that you didn't notice taking it apart and then put it together correctly. Grease on the back of the pad that just sits against the caliper and doesn't actually move, likely won't do anything.

Actually the grease absorbs the harmonics that are produced by the pads friction against the rotors.

Agreed. The grease can help dampen harmonics but almost all modern pads have a shim to prevent such pad chatter so it's unlikely that the grease helped.

Like wheeler said, there was likely a clip slightly awry and via disassembly you inadvertently fixed it. But fixed is fixed, so who cares.

OP how do you like the power stops? I used them on a Journey once and they did not impress but not sure why as I had them on Durango and they were good. Went with Wagner when I just did mine a month or so ago they seem equal to factory nothing special.

I have an '04 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi. I am running Baer DecelaRotors and the ceramic DecelaPads. The rotors are slotted and cross drilled. They are directional. I have had so much better stopping, less dust, and no noise after having them on for over 3 Yrs. However, I am about to replace the pads as the inspection station said I need them for next years inspection. The pads don't last as long as semi-metallic, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
