I bought my first Dodge ever this week. 2007 2500 4x4 w/ 6.7, GPS, XM, Jake brake, etc. So far I absolutely love it. I am going to add a leveling kit this week and hopefully add some bigger tires in the future. I can't believe Dodge put P265's on this truck. I just sold a 2006 Nissan Titan LE 4x4 that came stock with P285's. Anyway, I'd like to go with 315's/ 35's at some point in the future. I love the rumble of the diesel. It's got a good sound in the cab. Good rumble, but not so loud you can't hear anything else. The only thing I don't like is that you can BARELY hear the turbo. Every now and then you can detect a slight whine, but for the most part, you can't hear it. I wish it was a little louder. :)

Welcome. I'm sure some of the ctd members can tell you how to make the turbo louder.

Yayyy more CTD guys ... Welcome ..

As for the turbo ... remove the silencing ring and that turbo will whistle like a train ... First thing I did .

Remove the inlet plastic elbow tube off the intake side of turbo assembly.

Look inside the inlet opening, you will see a round ring that is being retained by a large snap ring.

Remove the snap ring with pick or small screwdriver, use care when prying this snap ring out, try not to score or scratch up the inlet casing..... Remove silencer ring. Keep it just in case you want to re install it .

Removing the silencer ring allows a better intake flow into the turbo. And it also allows for a slightly responsive spool up. Tests have proven that this mod gives about 7-10 hp over keeping the ring in there.

This is what it looks like .. a ring in front of the fins held in by a snap ring

From what I've read the 6.7's don't have a silencer ring like the 5.9's. I guess technically they do, but apparently it's made into the turbo so it can't be removed without some drilling. It also acts as an air deflector actually improving airflow into the turbo. .......at least that's what I've read. I have no first hand experience with either one.
