i have a muffler that doesnt do much because the exhaust pipe rusted a hole where a mount is. haha its loud but not to loud. its got dual tips out on the side in front of the tire. i plan on fixing it and possibly getting a new muffler. idk what to get but i like the deep throaty sound

I love it loud. I have never run a muffler or cat on any vehicle I've ever had. Started out with driving mostly hot rods when I was in high school. Back then you could afford to drive a car every day that only got 8-10 mpg, gas was around 50 cents a gallon! As I've watched gas prices soar to what they are today, i realized that it isnt practical to drive a muscle car or truck everywhere I go, so I've gotten in the habit of keeping an economy car around to run errands in and use for city driving. But I straight pipe those too. I rather like that annoying 'ricer' sound. Maybe I'm just nuts, but have found that you can actually use the open exhaust as an indication of fuel economy. If the exhaust is roaring loud, you're getting your worst fuel economy, i.e. acceleration, passing on the highway, going up a hill. When you level out to cruising speed, even a loud vehicle like a straight piped V8 will quiet down to almost stock levels, with a barely audible mellow rumble indicating you're getting the best fuel economy. The funny thing is, everyone said I'd grow out of the loud car thing when I got older....I'm over 50 now and I still love how the roaring crackle of my ram's pipes echo off tall buildings as I accelerate from a stoplight in the city. And the really ironic thing is, I've gotten more compliments over the years on the sound of my mufflerless exhaust systems than even I can believe. Guess it's all a matter of personal preference. I just like to hear what my engines are doing. With no muffler or converter, you'll immediately notice the slightest misfire or change in the way your engine runs or idles, whether it's a bone stock 4 banger, or a huge, modified V8. Just my 2 cents,
Dave
