Hey guys! Brand new to the forum and I'm looking for some help on tires as mine are about to have less than zero tread on them soon...

I've been looking on the forums for the right info, and although you guys are full of knowledge I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for.

I have a 2006 1500 QC SLT 4x4 but only with the 4.7L. I'm looking for new tires and need to know what fits. It looks like I can bump up a size or two from what I have on it now (245/70/17) but I'm wondering how big. I'm really wondering if 285/70/17 will fit (and possibly if they would look goofy or not) without rub. Or should I just go with 265s for now?

The new tires will be on the stock 17's since I can't afford rims right now. Everything else on the truck is stock and front sits pretty low. I'm looking into cranking the torsion bars or the HBS 2" LVL kit soon.

Like I said, the necessity for new tires is growing every day... thanks for your help and input! Seems like a knowledgeable bunch of users on here and I'm looking forward to learning and modding!! Let me know if you need any more info!

I have 265s on my stock 06 4x4 regular cab. I could easily jump to 285s with no rub. Post a pic of your truck if you have time. Heres a quick pic of mine on 265s in stock condition. Just to give you an idea.

Thanks! I'll try and get a picture up soon! I think I'm leaning toward a set of used 265s for the moment till I can afford a lift then I'll upgrade my wheels along with that. Really just needed to know how big I could go with stock because I hate how the 245s that were on it when I bought it look.

I just ordered 295/65/20's(35's). I'm getting ready to crank the torsion keys and slapped them on. I'll put up pics when I get them. Should be here any day now!

If your truck is a 2006 then you don't have torsion keys. You'll have to actually buy a leveling kit and shocks. 2005 was the last year with torsion keys.
