Hi guys. . . I'm awaiting delivery of a new 2015 Ram Express quad-cab 4WD (Silver) with the 3.6L PentaStar engine. I test drove both the 5.7L and the 3.6L and decided that the 5.7L was overkill for my intended light duty. During my test-drive the 3.6 seemed to move the truck very well, and was quiet and fuel efficient on the highway.
I last owned a Dodge Ram back in the mid-90s--it was an '87 (Black) with a 318CI engine that I'd bought used with over 100,000 miles on it. That truck served me well for several years. That was my last Chrysler-made vehicle until now.
I'll be looking the truck over before I sign papers (it's being brought from another dealership in another state)--are there any obvious issues I should be looking for during my inspection?
What do you guys think of the 3.6L engine for light-duty (no towing) use? How is that engine holding up in the real world? I'd like to hear comments from owners of this truck / engine combo.
Thanks, and Happy New Year! --Rob
