New Guy old mech.

Not new to Mopar or mechanics, New to forum. My name is Dave from West Virginia. Just Bought a 1997 Ram 1500 Laramie with 200k on Auto 360 4x4 for $1500. She needs some work but pretty rust free for WV. Frame is great some of the cab mounts starting to rust but can be saved. Leaks oil, Has slight miss on acceleration and very little brakes. Reservoir was empty so leak some where I haven't found yet. Maybe internal Master cylinder leak sucking fluid through vacuum to be burnt. No smoke at all. Im sure I will have a ton of questions after I read old threads on my problems. Plan on complete tune up, oil change, Gear oil in front and back and transcase. Trans fluid clean and no burnt smell. Howdy from TX. Sounds like you got a great deal on a truck there. I’m new to 2nd gen’s myself, always liked them but never had one till now. It’s a plain Jane 2001 1500 WS V6 / auto truck but I enjoy working on it. It has faded and peeling paint but the body, frame , and underside is pretty much rust free and clean for such an old truck. It has only 60k miles but I got it for $1800 with a blown head gasket. Got a great deal on a new motor that came in a plastic crate. I did most of the work myself with My son helping me when he could. It’s running but something is keeping it from running better. I installed some new parts and plan to install a new fuel pump tomorrow since it’s not holding fuel pressure. Excited to hear what you’re gonna be working on with your truck so keep us posted.
