Hey guys I'm new here but I have searched the threads for my problem and have not found it so here it goes. I just bought pacesetter long tubes and the pacesetter off road Y pipe. My plan is to install new headers, Y pipe with the stock cats welded into the Y pipe. My main question is will I need oxygen sensor extensions for the rear o2? Thanks

All depends on where you weld in the rear bungs.

Yes you will. In stock place the cats are sitting where you're new headers will dump. So things will inevitably be set backwards. The pacesetter kit comes with wires to extend your stock harnesses if you feel like it, or for about $30 each I bought some really nice 24" extensions with the proper connector on either end off summit. I'll like to them later, on my cell at the moment.

My plan is to make it look like stock so bungs right after the cats. Also anyone have suggestions on what brand of o2 sensor would work best?

A local hot rod guy told me that if it were his truck he would just weld the rear o2 sensors before the cats just to make life easier. Would this work or would I get one of the famous CEL codes?

It wouldn't be a 'famous' one, but yes you would get a check engine light. The rear sensor needs a different reading from the front sensor to make sure that the cat is working properly.

If you're going to go through the trouble, and pay for the labor of having your cats welded into the Y pipe, then go the extra step and have the bungs welded in in the proper place. Using an extension harness won't make it look any less stock. And it will also prevent any check engine light on the truck will run like a stock truck just with more power.

As far as which O2 sensors to buy, just reuse your stock ones if there's nothing wrong with them. That's what I did.

I would replace the front O2 sensors if you have the $ too. There's no reason not too, and depending on how much use the old ones have on them. It may be a good thing.

They can still work even with soot caked on them. Which in turn throws you A/F ratio off. You're already gonna be lean from adding headers. So why not?

You can get the Bosch O2 sensors for $25 each. I personally haven't had any problems with them. But other accounts may vary.

There is nothing stock looking about Long tubes. Any inspector will know just from the sound of them that they are tubes. The collectors have bungs for the front O2s and where ever the cats are the rears will need to be behind them. Whatever the length of the cat you are using you can cut that amount off of the ORY and weld the cat in to make up the length. If you have Cert numbers on the cats point them in a direction so they can be read by an inspector if needed when installed. I used 3" Magnaflow spun cats that are very compact. If you want better cats I have a pair of 03 cats that are IMO as good as it gets. PM me if interested.

Ok thanks for all the info guys. I'm in small town Washington state so no worries on being inspected any time soon. I'm gonna replace all four sensors because they are all covered in crap. Thanks again
