Hi all,
Truck has been running like a champ since I got it all back together last October. If anyone recalls I did head, cam, lifterd, mds solenoids, coil packs, plugs, timing chain, water pump.
Fast forward to yesterday driving down the highway on my way to the airport running great and bam, check engine light comes on and I can feel a miss in the engine. I managed to pull off the highway and check the code: P2305”Ignition coil secondary circuit. ” cylinder 2. I got it to the airport as I did not feel this was anything mechanical. Checked the codes again and the P0302 was now there too. That makes sense if the coil isn’t firing.
I had to get on that plane for business now I am planning on what to do when I get back. I am going to purchase a coil and plugs and replace them in the parking garage. If that doesn’t work, is is safe to drive it like that for 50 miles, mostly highway?
Should I disconnect the #2 injector so no gas is being fed to the cylinder?
Should I also disable #3 to keep engine balance?
The failure was instantaneous, like the coild failed, but how common is that? These were Amazon replacements so now I suspect maybe Chinese crap?
Thoughts? I return home on the 5th.
