I have a 2017 ram 2500 with a 6.4 gas engine. I am in considering having express transmission in Holland Ohio install a road ripper transmission built by certified transmission. I pull goose neck trailer and smaller trailers with this truck, not every day but i do use the truck for a truck. I was hoping to get some firsthand feedback on the road ripper transmission. This is supposed to be a built up 66rfe transmission. Any help would be appreciated, Thank you

I have a 2017 ram 2500 with the gas 6.4 engine and 66rfe trans that needs a new transmission. Brand new trans from dealer is on national back order and could be up to 6 months before it would come in. I have a local transmission shop here in holland ohio that sells and installs a remanufactured transmission built by certified transmission. It is called the road ripper and is supposed to be the heaviest built trans they build. I was hoping someone on here had insight on this trans before i pull the trigger and have it installed. Any help would be gladly appreciated, Thank you

Same gear ratios? Guessing so if it's a "built-up" 66RFE. Curious why you're doing this in the first place? Problems with the current one?

I ask about gear ratios because that was a big design flaw with the 66RFE. They borrowed the ratios from the 68RFE that goes with the Cummins. With gas and diesel getting their power at different RPMs there was quite a large gap between first and second. I towed heavy in the hills with my 6.4/66RFE and it was a PITA at times.

Design aside, I had two failures too... the valve body is quite a weak point. Guessing that's upgraded an better in your prospective switch.
