I'm trying to wrap my head around wheel offsets and backspacing, but don't want to make any solid decisions before checking with the masters on RamForum.

I currently have the stock 20's with 33"s. I'm wanting to get Method Fat fives in 18x9 with 0 offset and 4.72 backspacing, and go up to a 34.5 in. tire.

What I'm curious about is will these fit at my current ride height? (I'm leveled) but planning on getting a 4" Super lift in the near-future.

And what will the changes be as far as how much the tire sticks out of the wheel well?

Thanks for any assistance, just looking for some peace of mind before blowing 2 some odd thousand on wheels/tires.

I believe 0mm offset on a 9" wide rim is dead in the middle, so its actually 4.50 backspace. It will work. The width of the tire would be the issue and with 0mm on that rim you should fit up to 12.5" wide. I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm wrong.

Offset and and backspacing correlate with each other. You don't need both to figure how far the wheels will stick out. Just one or the other and the rim width.

With a 0 offset and still a 9" wide wheels it's going to sit 19mm farther out.

Going down to a 18" rims even with a 34.5" tires should be fine. That would actually be a half smaller than what you are running now.

Here's a good offset calculator

and if like to use backsapcing

Nice chart on offset/back spacing. That will come in handy.

But how do you figure a 34.5" tire is half an inch smaller than a 33" tire? I think you had 2" from the 20" to 18" wheel conversion in there mucking up calculations. A 34.5" tire is always bigger than a 33" tire....

True statement^ anyways this is a picture of 0mm offset and a 12.50" wide wheel (as far as sticking out)
