Not sure if there is a ranking list of brands. Mostly wondering what the best oil filter I can get that Advance Auto provides, the royal purple isn't an option. Are the differences on the high end pretty minuscule and more of a brand preference (K&N vs Mobil1 Extended vs PurolatorBOSS)?

Wix XP.....

I actually think they are better than RP.

Checkout some of the comparison videos on YouTube. Below is a link to one:

I ran the Wix XP and received great results from the oil analysis. Not sure how much that has to do with the filter! I've also ran the Bosch Distance Plus with good results. Currently, I have the Purolator BOSS..we'll see how that works!

I've been using PP 5w-20 in each instance.

My vote goes to Wix since I've been using their filters in many vehicles for many years without issue.

If you still wanted to go with the RP and have an O'reillys in your area, they carry it or can usually order it for you.

can't wait for my first oil change.... hope the factory fill was mobil 1 like they do with jeeps, because my engine will never see another drop of that pennzoil crap

have had bad experiences with it in 2 different cars....lessons learned.

mobil 1 or shell rotella for me

and a Wix XP filter
or napa gold (rebadged Wix)

M1 is not the factory fill, doesn't even carry hemi spec. You know rotella now owns Pennzoil yes? In the last ten years, Pennzoil is drastically different from years past. Although m1 is also great oil, I'm sure it will serve you well.

2002 shell bought pennzoil quacker state.

I run the Mopar SRT filter on my 11 with the 5.7 hemi. Mopar Part number 5038041AA

Recent OCI was 8,000 miles, no real oil usage. Truck has 121k. On the clock and runs fantastic.

$16.95 at the dealership or $14.30 on Amazon. It is a synthetic media filter.

Mobil 1 is factory fill on jeep renegade, in the video of the tour of the giant factory in Italy , you can even see the huge bulk oil tank with mobil 1 logo on it.
I said nthing about the Hemi, I have the v6, and for the record, mobil 1 does have one line that carries MS-6395 cert..... mobil super synthetic.
my issues with the 0w20 pennzoil platinum crap was about 6 or 7 years ago. 2 cars same oil bought about 4 months apart from different stores. both gelled in -35c weather, a third car running 11 month old regular quaker state 5w30 dino oil was still very fluid....

i would run water mixed with bacon fat before another drop of pennziol goes in my vehicle.

its not owned by rotella. lol
rotella is a product line of shell, and yes shell owns pennzoil. ownership doesnt make a product better.

Well, Mobil super isn't synthetic, I would just go to m1 despite not having spec if it were me, especially someone who has had oil issues in the past, stick to synthetic imo. I get it, once a brand lets you down it is hard to see past it, but it is hard to see why we get excited over coventional motor oil or blends. Hemi's are finicky lubrication wise, probably other fca applications as well.

Fram Ultra, Wix XP, and Amsoil filters are tops. Currently using Amsoil, but for the price, think I'll move back to Wix XP after my current inventory is used up.
I won't ever touch another Purolator, one failed on my 2010 Dakota (4.7L V8) a few thousand miles before change time. Driving to Costco one day, and had a sudden, loud engine ticking that sped up or slowed down with throttle. At the time, I wasn't sure what failed, was afraid it was internal to the engine. Out of desperation, changed the oil and filter, and yup, that fixed it.

Ran the SRT filters for a little bit. No problems with them either.

I've read some [rather dense and boring] threads about Wix XP @ BITOG and it seems it's not too popular over there...my question to y'all Ram Hemi 5.7 owners - Have you had any practical/tangible bad UOA or failure where the Wix XP is to blame? I do have a few RP 10-48's for the next oil changes but having another good, less expensive option be nice.

Thanks
