Next Best Oil Filter After RP?

Well, MOPAR doesn't make oil filters. They contract with other companies to have the right to sell their filters under the MOPAR name. Same thing with house brand filters, like the ones you find at auto parts stores. The issue I have with that is that MOPAR doesn't use the same supplier year over year, they simply will contract with the lowest bidder for a given period of time. The filter MOPAR uses simply needs to meet specs provided by MOPAR to the manufacturer.

I prefer to stick with proven brands like Wix or RP. I haven't heard or seen negative reviews about their filters.

The AMSOIL oil filter is basically the same as the Royal Purple extended life oil filter. The only difference is that the AMSOIL filters cost more and don’t sport a fancy purple paint job. If you need further proof, they are both made by Champion Labs.

Champion Laboratories manufactures over 30 brands of engine oil filters.

I believe you're correct. To clarify, there's nothing wrong with Mopar filters. I just prefer to use name brands. That's just my pure preference

no doubt, kind of like Mopar Fluids, a big joke. In the past when Mopar built their name there was no ability to break down formulas and share info. But with the miracle called the internet and tools we can use to break down oil formulas, we see that there is nothing special about manu fluids other then their ability of taking more money out of peoples wallets. Mopar filters are just paper filters, nothing special at all, I certainly wouldn't even hang one on my truck. But, the guy that is running a 4k interval this is a fine option. But as we know from the oil filter thread, if you run a paper filter on a long oci (either time or miles) the filter no longer filters as it gets stiff. Spun Microglass filters never break down, I've cut them open at 2 years and they are like new. Paper filters cannot compete, regular mopar filters are paper.

Yes we tend to agree bud, as they are clone filters along with royal purple. The difference is for the hemi the amsoil filters has 2 less holes, so we give the RP filters the edge but yes Amsoil filters are great as well. Welcome to RF.

We also like to back up statements with facts, so you researched it feel free to go to syn thread and present your research. We like discusions about the science of lubrication there.

Same here. Good spun filter, metal mesh backing, silicone backflow preventer& & metal bypass spring, not to mention excellent efficiency ( since it was mentioned already....)

But what about the efficiency of the filter? There website doesn't show anything and I found some data on BITOG that I don't think is that impressive. RP, Amsoil, Fram synthetic, Mobil 1 synthetic are way better at filtering than Wix.

As you can see from their site they just rank them by normal, severe, extreme which is pretty lousy to me.

Someone also posted a link that a guy on a Chevy site, did testing on a bunch of filters to see how they filtered aluminum. I know it wasn't ISO tested but posted interesting results.
