No Reverse

Running errands this morning when I went to shift into Reverse...nothing. You can feel movement like the trans going into gear when you shift to Reverse, but the truck doesn't move. Went to one shop today and was told rebuild was in order. Anyone else ever experience this?

When reverse goes, forward gears aren't far off.

The only thing you can do is drop the pan, adjust the bands and hope for the best.

when you try to adjust the low reverse band, if it is broken, they break on the ends. either the anchor end or the servo end.

Ok, thanks for everyone's input. Looks like I'll be looking at a rebuild in the near future.

Took the truck in today for that transmission rebuild. Again thanks for everyone's comments.

Got it back today with my wallet $2500 lighter, but it hasn't shifted this smoothly in the 10.5 years I've had it. Apparently there was a snap ring that broke having something to do with reverse? Anyway, it's good to have the truck back again.
