Aaaahhhhh!!! Truck week is 2 days away and my truck decides to not start. First noticed the batteries read 8V so that’s a problem. Second it’s push to start and you can definitely hear the click from the starter but won’t turn over. Lastly, my truck was just sitting over night and this morning it was like this. No issues with her until this!!!! Need everyone’s advice on this!

Help!!!! Willing to take some serious inquires I’m in Ocala, FLORIDA. I’m also apart of FRTC down here so I’m open to the help.

6.7 Cummins with 2 batteries reading a total of about 8.0V? Started normal yesterday, all day? Does this truck have the original 94R batteries under the hood along with the factory blankets?

Do you have a battery load tester? Disconnect both batteries and test each one individually.

Do you have any aftermarket electrical accessories installed? Maybe a pair of amps hardwired to the batteries? For the batteries to drop their voltages and amps that low it would have to be a very large parasitic draw or you have a shorted cell internally in one or both of the batteries.

Try starting the truck with just one battery connected to see if one has more amperage than the other.

You can also do a battery draw test to check for a parasitic draw. If you found a draw I suspect it would be quite large in the 2-4 amp range.

If you haven't already, charge the batteries while they are not connected to the truck and check the static holding voltage. If one of the batteries has a bad cell, you'll see reduced voltage.
You say 3 batteries? Where's the third one hooked up? I know CTDs use two wired in parallel from the factory.

Thanks in advance but after diagnostics were concluded I ended with new batteries. Will definitely take you up on this later on when I go after the transmission that is hard shifting. I think all problems are stemming from bad previous owner.

I have another battery for accessories battery that I wired up so I don’t run into electrical problems in the future.

You may want to use a continuous duty solenoid to isolate the third battery when the truck is not running. That way it doesn't matter if the accessories run that battery down, the truck still starts.
