have afe shortys on my truck. Question is when cruising and eco mode is on everything sounds good. When its pulling a hill or accelerating it has this gurgling type sound. Not really sure how to describe it other than that. Sometimes at idle it has the sound too from both sides. Is this normal? I have checked the bolts and they are all tight. Do not feel any exhaust leaks.

You may just be hearing your injectors. Does the sound change from startup to normal operating temperature. Since I did my headers it's gotten loude. Almost like a chick chick noise.

Also in eco mode it Will sound different because it shuts down engine cylinders. If you put the transmission into manual mode it'll prevent the engine from going into eco mode.

Yea. Kind of a little. Didnt notice them with the manifolds on. If you stomp on it it goes away but under a little accleration it is louder

Yeah I'm definately willing to bet that's what it is. There's another thread talking about this too. No need to worry many of us are experiencing this too. As far as I know it's the nature of the beast.

When I put headers on my 2013 it got very noisy, Very Noisy. Drove me crazy; the stock manifolds absorb a lot of noise. Not sure about the gargling noises.

It just kind of sounds like an old beater truck but not as loud. I dunno how to describe it.

Headers have a tendency to be a bit noisy due to the thin walls. If you have a tuner and can log short term fuel trims, look for variation between the banks to see if there is an exhaust leak at the flanges. Look for soot at the collector as well.

When I got my truck brand new it had sort of a pinging or kind of sounds like metal rattling. Only happens towing up hill, or under heavy acceleration. I climbed under the truck and found that a heat shield was smashed and lightly touching under vibration. So I pried it out and it seemed to stop and I thought I had it fixed. But I've noticed it again a few times since although not as often.

I've posted about it before but didn't seem like anyone else had it. Not sure if its same noise you hear. Always run either 89 or no octane 87. Does it both ways. Does it with mds on or in 8th gear doesn't matter. I don't think its actually pinging, something rattling or vibrating once the engine hits 5k+ rpm

That sounds like you're describing valve float to me.

I like them. The drivers side is a ***** to install and tighten the bolts down.

Notice any performance or mileage gains? I know the consensus is to go long tubes but I'm hesitant to add a bunch of noise, heat, and a tight fit.
