I swear I’ve heard others say this before but now I can’t find it. Just got my truck back today for the trans solenoid body replacement and the cruise control recall. I noticed the trans seems to shift a little harder now.

Anyone else?

Your transmission is in learning mode. Also, your final drive gearing and tire size effect torque through your transmission. I ran 37s with 4.10s which is the same effective ratio as 35s and 3.73. Switching to 5.13s greatly improved the transmission shifting.

This is great news to hear that a swap to 5.13's is so beneficial to the shifting "problem" these trucks have. Reloaderguy, can you give slightly more detail on that. My '17 2500 6.4 Tradesman 4x4 has 4.10's now and even with 15,000 on it, it shifts like shift w/o the f.
I have been talking myself into 5.13's for months now.

You can physically feel the reduction of torque in the transmission after the gear swap. The transmission programming and gear selection strategy doesn't change unfortunately so if you truck is often in the wrong gear that won't change.

Did it agfect your mileage? If so, by how much? That won't stop me but I'm curious. Gas mileage is not why I bought the beast.

It should be the same as running in tow/haul mode which locks out 6th. From my observations, lets the RPMs run up about 1K higher before shifting to the next gear.

I was watching my shifts this weekend on a hwy trip. Before tow/haul, it was shifting at about 2500 rpms. With tow/haul on, it was shifting at about 3500 rpm. Doing 70 - 75 mph my RPMs were running somewhere about 2050 - 2200 rpm in 5th.

From the RPM calculators posting in the gear swap threads, it looks to be about the same at 5.13s with 37s.

Running my 37s in tow/haul and doing 70-75 @ ~2100 rpm, it rarely downshifted. The EVIC's current Fuel Economy reading was showing around 16-17 mpg on the flats, 13.5 - 14 mpg on overpasses (without downshifting), and 19-20 mpg on the downhill side of the overpasses. Overall, the EVIC avg mpg went from 12.4 to 13.9 on this trip. About 120 miles round trip.
