New to site and new Ram owner. Yesterday I was using my GPS on my cell phone and propped it up against the cluster so I could see it better while driving. After returning home I did not notice anything abnormal about my mileage or info display. Later I left for work and noticed my mileage was 2000 miles less and the information display was in French. So I reset the language and turned off the engine. After restarting, the language stayed in English but the mileage remained rolled back. I have not tried disconnecting the battery yet. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this happening and if it may be a coincidence that my phone was in close proximity or is there a common problem. I Googled the problem a hundred different ways and found nothing to indicate that this has happened to anyone else. Any thoughts or answers? Should the computer keep an accurate mileage that the dealer can fix reset it back to the accurate mileage?

Sorry, I should have put this in the general discussion or interior thread

Thanks,
Roger

When you reset the language did it reset the units? Kilometers to Miles? That would certainly explain the difference in the numbering.

I would think that if it went to kilometers then the number would be higher not lower by 2,000, right? It's 1.6 kilometers to 1 mile....so if he had 1,000 miles then it switched to kilometers then it would read 1,600. Maybe I'm mixing it up?

Not trying to be a smart ass lol, but
Did your phone accidentally push the button and you are now showing a trip meter instead of the odometer?

My trucks button is on the steering wheel. Is the 2010 button on the cluster?

Yea, my 2012 has the manual button up on the cluster for trip and odometer. I think they did away with the button on 13 up models with the new evic and dash display

Thanks for the responses. No there were no accidental pushing of any buttons. You can only access the system settings while in park to change languages. As far as units, even if you change the units to metric the odometer stays in miles. The trip odometer A and B will be in km but there is no way these were what I am looking at. I use trip A to keep track of oil changes and trip B to keep track of mpg. Even if the odometer was in km originally it would have been a 30000 mile difference. Disconnecting the battery did not reset the computer so I will be stopping by the dealer on my way home from work. I tried replicating the issue by placing my phone on GPS and placing it in the same spot on my way to work and nothing happened. I'll let you guys know if the dealer has any answers.

That's a very odd problem. Aside from the obvious things people have brought up, units changed, I'm stumped.
Can't wait to hear what this turns out to be.
