We were out of town for 10 days. Truck is garage kept. Just recently I thought the OEM battery was taking an extra second to crank over.

Anyway, cranked it up and it hesitated pretty good this time around. Check engine light came on. Read code with SC, P0562 battery voltage low. Ran it over to Auto Zone and they checked battery. They confirmed it was on it's last leg and that the alternator was fine. OEM Battery was 5 1/2 years old, so it lasted a good amount of time. My 2004 battery died out of the blue after 3 1/2 years. I had no time to shop battery prices on late Sunday afternoon with work the next day, so I had them drop in a Duralast Gold.

All is well now, but holy moly batteries aren't cheap these days! :jawdrop:

Given the age and the cold polar air snap it's not too surprising she went. Probably better that died in the garage than leaving your wife stranded somewhere, like these batteries are prone to do. That's a good reminder, if you're going to leave town for a time those trickle chargers or battery tenders are not a bad idea. Batteries aren't cheap anymore but hey a hun some bucks every 5 years isn't too bad.

Just replaced mine last month. Had it checked and it was recommended to change sooner rather than later, which I was wanting to do anyways since it is wintertime. Got 6 years out of it. I was pretty impressed.

I change mine every 5 years weather it shows signs of needing or not, batteries don't care if they leave you stranded.

That's impressive it lasted 6 years, Wendy! May have to use the 4-5 year swap it out rule in the future. Can't take chance we get stranded.

New battery has 850CCA and 1000CA. The CCA's are either 200-250 more than the stocker, which is a plus. This battery is definitely an upgrade over the stocker.

My OEM lasted from new 04 till 2011 or 12, cant remember which year the new motor went in now. I was shocked but that being said mine was no longer a DD after 08 time frame.

Wow you have me beat, pretty sure my 2007 is OEM. Almost 100% on that though because when I got the truck, EVERYTHING was original, even the spark plugs and diff oil at 60k miles.

Should look at getting a new one here at some point.

Holy cow! Some of these OEM batteries are going 9-10 years and I thought 5 1/2 years was good. Haha!

LOL yeah I think I'm going to be more mindful of it now. I didn't even think of it till this winter and was like oh geez that's 6 years old! lol but yeah I've been kinda lucky with this truck and the OEM stuff lasting a good while. I got 79500 miles out of my brakes, never had to have the rotors turned or pads replaced in that whole time.
