OEM Chrome running boards

2018 Ram chrome side step/ running boards keep peeling the Chrome. Been through 2 sets in 25000 miles. They were replaced under warranty but the latest pair is starting to do the same. Truck is kept very clean and protected. Anyone have this problem?

Where do they start peeling? I have painted ones but my fathers 2018 are chrome with 120k miles and never heard him complain of the chrome peeling. Post a pic and I'll have him check his in the same area.

I had the chrome ones on my 18 2500 Laramie. Not even a flake of peeling on those when I traded it in October of last year.

They're subjected to really harsh conditions, lots of water spray, rocks and other debris that are kicked up from the tires. If you don't have mudflaps, I'd order a pair to help protect them. Even then, you're likely to see similar issues, but it'll take longer to happen.

I've got great mudflaps, Chrome peels around the composite ram step insert

My 18 didn't have inserts, per se. See the attached picture. It was a Laramie.
