Yes you can do this in “stages”. The minimum you need to start with is the hub, push button switch, and the keyless entry fob. You can’t use your old fob and ignition switch because they are on different FCC ID numbers than the keyless go equipment. This method will only allow you to start the truck by pushing the start button with the fob. Then you could add the front and rear antennas later so you can use your finger to push the button. And last, you could add the handles so you don’t need to use the fob to unlock the truck.
I plan on doing a dedicated write up on this when I’m done, but I want to wait for the alfa developer to respond about the software being able to do this. I have everything ready to go, but if I have the dealer finish it off, then I won’t be able to confirm any solution that the Alexxi might have.

Does the hub talk and/or write the fobik information back to the ECU? Reason for asking is I ran into a thread on a german forum where they program the new remotes first (different Chrysler vehicle where they upgraded to push button), then swap the hub and perform the reset/replace procedure and it worked for them.

I thought the remotes get "married" to the hub during the setup process. Which means I dont think you could program them with the existing hub then swap in the new hub.

Im all for this project as long as I can avoid my dealer.

This is where we’re getting stuck. Cwizyz6.jpg6evmsYt.jpg
The way it’s worded has me thinking it should be a setting in the alfa, but either can’t find it, or he didn’t add it?
We can’t do anything with the RF Hub until that fob is programmed, and we can’t program the fob until the PCM and new hub “shake hands”. XQHcE8f.jpg

Can you post a link to that forum so we can check it out, please?
Edit: I’m willing to try this, even if I brick the new fob, but I’d like to read that forum (in it’s entire context) first.

You could probably avoid the dealer and pay a reputable auto locksmith.

Wow how on earth did ya find that. A pn for a wiring harness [emoji33]

What's the C1 and C2 connector? Where are they. Looks like the C304 plugs into the rfhub? The other to the door handle. But where will the antenna plug into at?

Stumbled on it looking for parts and connectors. Seems like he got the harness then made changes to it for antenna connections and such.

AutoTechElectronic responded to my comment on their YouTube channel.

They have a video showing the physical replacement of an RF hub but did not mention any programming to get it to actually work.

They said they use your VIN to pre-config the hub. Since they obviously can't have my BCM, PCM, etc, there must be a way to get the VIN into the hub without it physically connected to a unique truck.

EDIT: BTW the whole "transfer secret key" process seems to be part of the PCM, not the BCM or RF hub. I cant find it anywhere in AlfaOBD, though. It looks like we need to run it to get the VIN into the new hub. There is a function called VIN Write in the Engine computer section of Alfa....I wonder if its the same thing?

Awesome, thanks for the reply! Lengths will be a big help, so far I feel pretty comfortable with everything else.
I will draw a pic with measurements tonight and post it too you .
It will just be hand sketch nothing fancy but will do for what you are asking for.

I saw that and tried. Problem is, in order to connect to the Engine, the ignition needs to be in run position (MAR), but with the new hub connected that’s not possible.

So you can either do this with cable or make a harness like mine .
I think using cables will be easier to keep track of things when building your harness .
If using cable the measurements for each run are as follow :
Everything is in inches

C2 to rear antenna 18 inches 2 wires
C2 to drivers door 196 (4 wires )
C2 to passenger door 142 (4 wires )
C2 to Centre Console 152 (2 wires )

If building harness refer to the pic
Same lengths but you would split the hanress into three sub harnesses at around 116 inches down from c2 connector .
I ran my wires down the passenger side and then to Centre console and then to drivers side .
The reason I did this is i plan on running a amp in the future and will run my power wire down the drivers side .

That's awesome thank you! Going to order wire and make the harness. My amp's power is running down the driver side to under the driver seat. Might look to go center then under the console, if not too much of a pain running under the carpet and not being noticeable. Otherwise, passenger side it is.

If you do decide to buy cable try and get one that has a small jacket on it .
Will make it easier getting thru the front doors
