I faintly saw the mother Doe up on the hillside right before Bambi made a fatal life decision. She died almost instantly. To my advantage Highways was right behind me and pulled over. I
must have been visibly upset because he told to relax it’s alright it’s only a deer. I said oh I don’t care about the F@(&ing deer I just wrecked my truck!

So I don’t want to go thru insurance because I’ll pay for it more in the end.

Options.

Stealership $513 for the bumper cover.

New stock from a wrecking yard
$350 for a work truck brand. Apparently not the best fitment

Or $450 for an insurance company quality piece. Better fitment

Looking at aftermarket bumpers too but I don’t know where to buy from in Canada. Not sure if shipping from the US would be worth it. Sure can’t travel there to buy it either. Anyone know of a good website that ships from Canada?

Thinking Steel bumper is the way to go cause it’s going to happen again. I know it’s harder on tires and suspension but deer are harder on plastic then metal.

Get you a Ranch Hand steel bumper from American Truck or somewhere it may be cheaper. About $800. Deer will run from this one(you hope) lol

Sorry to hear this. My daughter backed into my truck in the driveway and dented my bumper, I bought an aftermarket new one not bad quality but not good chrome job. It did fit nice with the new plastic mounts. I did upgrade with fog lights in the bumper.

Oof, that sucks. Personally, I think this is a prime opportunity to upgrade to a steel bumper. There are tons of offroad steel bumpers out there but most are hideous (IMHO).

Americantrucks.com might ship bumpers to Canada. Their shipping info is a little murky.

Sorry, man. I would have the front end checked out by a repair center to make sure there isn't masked damage. Hitting that deer, even smaller ones, can be equivalent of about 3 tons at impact although speed (unknown) factors I to final force. There could be something else you will find. Glad you weren't hurt. Good luck.

Oh man that sucks! I am glad you are ok and the damage doesn't look too bad from the picture.

I lost my 07 Focus at 218K miles last fall hitting a buck on the way to work. The plastic bumper on that car had the same kind of damage as your truck, but add a broken head light, smashed hood and crumpled fender with the mileage and the fact that car was a bottom line striper with only AC (no other options, everything manual) and it was good bye after insurance did their thing.

So living here in Texas it seems almost everyone out here in the hill country has an after market large steel ranch hand style replacement bumper. I can say the ones I have seen look like they will do the job of keeping the damage down to mostly paint scratches. Hope I don't have an excuse with my current truck to replace a front bumper thanks to a deer or hog as I am not certain on the weight of one of those bumpers. I did put on an aftermarket stock replacement rear bumper on my 05 Super Duty when the original one rotted out, bumper was a decent quality one however the fit wasn't as good as the original (not as tight to the body).

Good luck on which ever route you take and stay safe up there.

Thanks for the advice Tron. I’ve already noticed the headlight is shifted and the corner of the fender is bent and chipped. I’m going to climb under it tomorrow and get a better look. It drove and braked straight. Those were the first two things I checked.

You need one of these!
I've killed 4 deer with the white, '17 2500 and killed 3 deer with the '09 1500.
Had the same bar on both trucks.
No sheetmetal damage to the 1500 and only a slight dent below the rear passenger door on the white 2500 CCLB. See it in the picture?.....me either! LOL! I did not repair ANYTHING on either truck! No need.

Go Industries Ranch Hand Grille Guard.
Made in Texas, USA!

PS: the '09 1500 bar was gloss black powdercoat and was $600. +/-. Guaranty 1 year.

The white 2500 has the Armor coating guaranteed for 3 yrs and is a thicker, rough coating in flat black. $900.+/-.
Go with the Armor coat. Well worth it. Been on my truck 3 yrs now and still looks new.

450 in your pocket and free dinner for 2 weeks, scratches and trucks go together like peas and carrots. I live in the country, I swear I think this bumper repeals deer. Motor Cycle cops seam to give me dirty looks though, lol.

What bumper is that Burla? I like the looks of that. I feel that most of the aftermarket bumpers are hideous and overstyled.

I like this one from Thunderstruck. It basically replaces the factory bumper skin and uses the factory fog lights.

fab 4, I like yours better. If I had it to do over I'd pass on full wrap, it is a beast, lol.

I like Fab Four's products. They are well made and styled well. I want to put an offroad bumper on my 2wd street truck but all of them would look ridiculous on it. I just want a fabricated steel bumper that mimics the stock bumper covers lines. I just need a bit more protection from 2 legged idiots than the stock bumper provides.

A place to look in Canada is National 4x4 Parts. There are a few others that are listed online as well. One place here in Ontario in St Thomas that has off road bumpers and parts. I forget the name but it’s online.

Thanks again everyone. Convinced the wife to let me buy a metal bumper. You know for HER safety. I’ll try 4wheelparts Lyle. I know they have one at the coast in Langley.

You are calling it a Ranch Hand but I think it's a Rancher.

Not being Picky, just saying in case viewers want to get one like yours. The Rancher is a great grill guard. So is the Ranch Hand but on the 2019-20s the Rancher has IMO better mountings. I like the Rancher's bottom "flat step-on" cross member. It also makes a good platform for driving lights
