Hello all. I have a question for you guys, I have a 2012 ram 1500 5.7, and was wondering how much oil everyone uses when they change the oil. The owners manual says 7 qts but the stealership says 7.5 qts. I have been putting in 7 and it is a little shy of the full mark. Thanks for any and all input.

I start with a little shy of 7 qts. and check it and add until full. Had an '05 Magnum RT with Hemi and put 190,000 miles on it before the trucks and always did the same on it.

Also depends if you have an oil cooler.. If you drain EVERYTHING then it'll end up to be about 7.5 quarts, that's what I get charged for over at jiffy lube

Lok at the front of the radiator, there should be two smaller radiators in front of the main one. An oil cooler, and a power steering cooler. the power steering will be fairly small, and the oil cooler will be right above it

actually on yours you cant look directly at the radiator. Look by the oil filter and there should be two lines coming out of above the filter. They should run to the radiator area

I put 7 in mine, and it brought it to the top. Same in my previous Aspen. I cringe at the use of "Jiffy Lube". Your truck deserves better.

Mine read full the first time but since then it shows a little shy every time. Looks like its about about 1/4-1/2 qt low.

I just took a lookie on mine and do not have an oil cooler. But I see fluid lines from the power steering, lines from the tranny and of course lines (hoses) from the engine. So that means 3 radiators? And if I had an oil cooler would be 4 radiators? Are you $hitting me?

By the way, when I look at the oil filter, I see two steel lines go right by it real close, but they go to the tranny.. it looks like. Anyways, you cannot see much radiator stuff, but I'm guessing that the rear radiator is the engine, the radiator for the tranny is in front of it, and then the PS radiator is a small one in the front ...bottom. So the oil radiator would be just above the PS one? So if that's the case, I do not have one. :( And I got the tow package.

Well at least you have the tranny cooler, I think that's what's included in the towing package. And all the radiators are small and almost have no effect on the main radiator
