I just changed my oil for the first time a month ago. I got the first four free from the dealership when I bought the truck I've got around 1K miles on the RP I put in and got a message this evening that an oil change was needed. Is this just based on mileage since the dealership changed it or is the engine sensing something in the oil?

If its something I need to just reset, what is the procedure?

Was the message on when you did the last change? Maybe it didn't get reset when it was changed.

Not sure about the '12's, but on my '14 you just turn the key on without starting it and display the oil change interval in the evic and push the 'right' arrow to reset it.

It wasn't on when I changed the oil. I was hoping it was just based on mileage since it was reset rather than something wrong with the current oil.

I'll try what you mentioned in the morning, thanks for the reply.

Dealer didn't reset, just turn key to last position before the truck turns on and then turn off, pump pedal three times, and then start the truck.

It worked. Ignition to accessory position, push accelerator to the floor three times, turn ignition to off and then start the truck. No more message.

Thanks for the help.
