This 10k Bs is why I am forced to buy new.Diesel or gas highway or city. Why not add some valve grinding compound to polish your bearings.3k and do it yourself or have a real mechanic do it.

Replace the engine oil and oil filter every 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or six months, or sooner if prompted by the oil change indicator system.
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or six months, whichever comes first.

I go to 10k, 3 gal @ $62 (T6 syn) + $20 filter. Dealer charges $103. so I let them do it. The $192 fuel filters, I can do for $125 so I DIY them.

3000 miles max.
Judy you ate wasting money, go to at least 6000 or 7000. In the 40’s and 50’s 3000 was the milage we need to change oil but we had a lot of dirt roads and crappy air filters and a poor quality oil in those days.

on my Eco-diesel, it uses full synthetic oil. Based on dealer suggestion, owners manual, and my own 40 yr experience, I change it just under 10k or 1 year, whichever comes first.

An extra $$50-100 a year for oil sure beats 10k for an engine. Worth the risk?

I am at the dealer now..dealer told me I must change my oil now..7450 miles.. was told I should change oil every 7500. I asked them about the owners manual it says 15000 or when the truck tells you... They said FCA says never go over 10000 and it will damage my truck and I might void my warranty. Told them to look it up .. they did.. said FCA has 15000 or 6 months. They still told me It was not a good idea and I want my truck to last do it under 10k miles...so my question is what do you guys think.....

It is proven we waste oil by changing it way to soon. 10k is good but no longer. Europe has had long intervals for quite a while now. You want to give money to oil companies go for it. ALL of my vehicles are well over 100k and don't burn oil. Up to you:)

Trust the oil life monitor, that's what it's there for. ( follow the owners manual)
It's based on driving habits and load. There is no need to change oil at a specific mileage anymore. I do my oil changes twice a year and my oil life is never below 20%
Dealers are notorious for up selling service because they don't make money on new car sales, so they try and make it back on service.

I have my oil changed every three thousand miles. 10,000 is too long to go without changing the oil. If you have the extended warranty with free oil changes, they most likely do not to spend the extra money.

I had the dealer say the same thing to me and my reply is the ENGINEER said that the oil monitor is sufficient to use as a gauge to change your oil. They were so confident in it that they actually put it in writing to say the same thing AND the Lawyers for FCA agreed with that statement by allowing it to be put in the owners manual. SO I told the dealer I would take my chances with the warranty.

Since I'm an engineer and I know no engineer worth his salt is going to put something so important as oil changes in WRITING that could cost the company Millions of dollars in claims would just let that minor detail go to waste. My last oil change was 12k based off of the oil change monitor. The service writer didn't even blink, they just wrote it up and told me to have a seat.

I do oil when truck tells me 16000 KM or 6 months. Which ever comes first. Only use PUP and OEM/NAPA/PUROLATOR Filters. DO NOT ever use a Fram oil filter.

BS, dealer is trying to make a $

Per the manual the oil change on a cummins is 15000 miles. Many oil analysis's have been done by people over on the cummins forum to back this up. Don't waste your money.

I do mine at 15K.
.
To MTNRiders point,
I have seen the programming for the data that goes into to EVIC systems. Not just on FCA but Toyota, Lexus, Audi, and Nissan those systems use countless sensor readings to come up with your vehicles % left to change oil ie: barometric pressures, ambient temp, engine oil temp & paraffin, engine run time, coolant temp, fuel trim timing, throttle positioning, to name some, as long as the EVIC doesn’t go past FCA written time/mileage recommendations in manual its safe to go by it.

I change mine every 1000 miles, 3000 is risky. At 10k miles driven per year, that's only 10 oil changes annually and costs about $600 per year.

That's cheap insurance, to know I will never, ever have an internal engine problem!
