I've got 3 quarts of Delo XLE 15w40, and 3 quarts of Delo XLE 10w30.

Works out to a 12.5 w 35.
Viscosity of a particular oil grade is a range. You either have a light 40 weight or heavy 30 weight grade oil. They do not fall in decimal or half grades when mixing. There is calculators to figure out what grade you actually have if you have the tech data sheets of the oil used.

That's more of a joke I make about the oil mixture I use. I wanted more than 10w30, and less than 15w40, but did want an oil speced for gas and diesel engines with a lot of detergents, and hopefully good stuff for the one with flat tappet.

Both run smooth and sounds smooth with that in there.

Well, here they are. Again, from MyAutoParts123-dot-com, ordered 04/02/2024, received 04/04/2024, at about 1:45pm via UPS Ground.
FREE shipping on orders of $25 or more. Just about $40 for 3 filters.

Filters well packaged and all 3 look perfect and made in Mexico, exactly like the ones I got from Summit and RP Direct.

Got mine too. From Mexico also

The China Endurance filters came in. Here is a comparison between China Endurance and Brazil Ultra filters for a Pentastar.

Fram Comparsion 1.jpg
The Endurance box is smaller, and there is no tape seal on either filter I received. A cost cutting measure on both accounts, I assume.
Fram Comparsion 2.jpg
Endurance on the left. The seam appears well sealed compared to the Ultra. The Endurance material is very firm where the Ultra isn't. I hope it's actually synthetic media.

They cut back on the size of the end caps on the Endurance.
Fram Comparason 4.jpg
The Endurance has a screen in it.

Fram Comparason 3.jpg
The Ultra doesn't.

Fram Comparason 5.jpg

What does everyone think? Do either of these filters instill confidence?

I see these have a plastic suction core instead of steel. Not sure that matters as long as they made the plastic thick enough to simulate the strength of a steel core under pressure differential and heat.

They always claimed Ultra dual layer synthetic didn't need a screen owing to the added stiffness of two media layers of differing filtering efficiency, so this is not a surprise.

The Endurance media appears to be all one substrate, and my guess is that it is fiberglass. The fact it has metal mesh screen backing also is evidence for this. I have seen other filters made of spun fiberglass media with media being sourced from China, but filter assembled in USA. In fact, I wonder if Champion Labs filters (Royal Purple, etc.) aren't made this way also?

Who knows how well the end caps seal, but the media itself visually appears the same as OG Fram media.

They are calling it "Synthetic Microglass Media". That very well could be a fancy word for fiberglass.

If that's the case, I have a roll of fiberglass house insulation. I could rip off a hunk and stuff it in the filter housing...lol

It is fiberglass. there are different fiber diameters and density packings - it's not as simple as jamming one type in as substitute for another.

spun glass is microscopic glass, this is 250x, it doesnt need binders that cellulose filters need, it just needs a metal screen to hold it together, those binders stiffen filters with use. If there is a better media, it is news to me. Left side paper, right side microglass. From the gm test to the independent lab tests, it flows better, lasts longer, and catches more contamination, and doesnt blow holes when binded like paper does. I literally think they should ban paper filters this stuff is so good, generally I am not for bans either.

The sadder joke is microglass seams to be on the way out, lol.

So it is really looking like we only have a very few good options, and I want to run this by ram forum. So 6 holes and 5 of them are tiny, this is not as desirable I think we all can agree as 8 larger holes for flow. BUT and this is a BIG but like kardashian big, what if we had those endurance filters fe2 but had a two filter set up??? Wouldnt that in theory even be better then a single 20-820???

If you're going to try dual filters, why not go back to the 3/4-16 filter nipples. That opens up more options for filters with more capacity then most 22mm X 1.5 filters offer. The 30-8A filters on my truck, are probably close to twice the size of the 20-820 filter.

If microglass is on the way out, it's probably because of the EPA because the microglass won't breakdown.

Everything that's good and last seems to be under siege anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if all filters went to cartridge because of the metal casings.

Mine came in the exact same boxes, lol. All are Made in Mexico and look good. I gave each one a touch of silcone lube on the gaskets ,and threw them under my slotcar track in the basement, where it's dry,and the wife won't stumble over them, lol.
Nice ole trackcar setup there.

I have about a 1,000 hours and a little over $4,000 into building it,lol. It's a routed track that's fully computor controlled, and times down to 0.001.The track is wired for brakes and has a 10 amp power supply on each lane.
