Oil Filter Thread

Maybe someday we will get numbers on filters that have 10k miles on them, that is what I attempt to promote. Filters that will filter better at the end of an interval then other filters, and most of that is theory. Will poly be as good as spun glass at mile 10k? My guess is spun glass filters as good at any mileage as mile 1 assuming capacity is there and oil acidicity didn't come into play. I'm not as sure with poly, it's a different type of media.

Why I said "we need our own lab". Oh wait, I'm retired, ok forget it.

9 inches shorter then any quad, 13 inches shorter then crew cab, dropped 2 inches, I guess they rake left in on purpose for the stance. I will be looking hard after they get a couple years on their production. hemi no e torque 60k give/take.

I'm also looking forward to the debut of the Dakota '27 model year? ... though, I'll take a harder look at it after all of the 'Gremlins' are ironed out.

If you are lucky they will have a Pentastar, but for sure many engines will be shiet.

Seriously though, on my 2500 mile earl change I used the Purolator Boss PBL22500 and it’s a few inches shorter than the OEM Mopar filter. Getting close to my 5k OCI and looking for some guidance. Are there any issues with a smaller capacity filter, or should I look for another brand? What about the WIX XP? It looks to be more along the same size of OEM.

GeauxinUp I think most of us by now would advise to use the largest filter you can. Why? Hemi is marginally oiled due to low low idle (to save gas ) and of course the lifters and cams not being properly oiled.

So - anything to keep flow restriction down while efficiency up is the answer. Which is why we want all synthetic media with the largest surface area.

Not that in necessarily matters in regards to your point, but I have the HO Hurricane. I’ll go with the WIX XP. At least it’s a synthetic blend media. Thanks!
