You know what is missing in the bold statement by mahle, the media itself causes the collapse when it stiffens up. When the oil cycles cause the paper media to bind, it simply does not filter no matter what anyone at bitog says. So unless you blow a hole through the media, or the bypass works perfectly, you get a vacuum effect that collapses the media. At what point do we decide it is just irresponsible to your truck to use a paper filter? Save a couple bucks, can literally kill your cam with the issues known to the 5.7.
