Just use the rotisserie, perfect every time no oil to buy or waste, and gives you time to prepare other foods while your bird is cooking.

I've been Frying turkeys for almost 30 years ...I've heard some crazy stories ....I've never had an issue ,but a few precautions I give everyone is .

1) determine oil level with water and the turkey still in it's bag .

2) fill the pot with penut oil to 1/2" below the previously determine marked water line .

Have a fire extinguisher handy

3) heat oil to 325° verify it did not expand obove mark

4) ensure the Turkey is completely thawed , season as you like , inject or dry rub

5) heat oil back up to 325° Turn Flame Off !
SLOWLY lower the bird ( this process can be 30 seconds ) trust me ...

6) put lid on and reintroduce the flame , you will loose 75+- degrees during the drop , monitor the temp and maintain 325 ° at 3.5 minutes per pound.

Example a 10 lb turkey cooks for 35mins , 20 lb for 70 mins ...

We were talking about bypass filters the other night and I e been thinking about it ever since. If you're regular filter is say a 20 micron and the bypass is 2.5 micron at any given pressure the vast majority of the oil is going to go thru you're regular filter, and a small amount thru the bypass. So I can see the bypass helping some, but is it really helping that much?

I run bypass on my Cummins. I would have the oil change %’age at single digits at 7k miles, after bypass, it’s in the mid 40% range at 7k miles.

Big rigs run them, the typically will go 50, 60, 70k+ miles in between oil changes with bypass filtering (with changing the filters every 15-25k miles).

I have been using RP-20-820 for years never leaked a drop that I ever saw. 2010 5.7
That’s because 2010 calls for the application... the discussion is if the newer 2013 and up can use without troubles because Ram switched to the smaller size for some reason. Not sure if it has to do with he electric steering or what. I run the smaller royal purple with a filter mag because my truck came with the smaller oem filter installed.

The larger RP20-820 Can be ran on the 13+ Rams with no issues as many here are doing this now .
The only concern is on the oil filter manifolds mounting surface ( if you've only ran the smaller filter type) the outside diameter of the mounting surface will have a light coat of rust / corrosion on it that must smoothed to make a better sealing surface for the larger filter due to it being a bit wider in diameter .

Somehere have just started using the larger filter without prepping the sealing surface , others had leaks and then had to remove the ring of corrosion on the mounting surface .

I suggest prepping the mountain surface with scotch brite and or 180 - 320 grit sandpaper paper.
Approching the filter manifold from the front of the vehicle makes this much easier .

Hope this helps !

ok for some reason I thought it was a thread for filters on the hemi in general. after looking in to it a little closer it seems the newer hemis might have a fitment issue? if I had a newer hemi I would be using the 10-48 without question.

The 10-48 will work just fine as well, that is the safe bet.

The RP 20-820 works just fine on the 2013 + vehicles ....read my post above .
Ram changed to a smaller Filter due to the electronic steering actuator....which makes zero sense , as the steering actuator is not in the way as far as fit , form & function goes ....guys Engineers do stupid **** all the time ...this is one of those times .
I've made a career out of fixing issues created by OEM and aftermarket Engineering ...the larger filter has ZERO issues with the 2013+ Rams .

Maybe a larger question would be why don't manufacturers embrace spun micro glass filters and have more of a concentration of filtration. With these full flow filters why not have two as an option, if not a very large one? With tighter tolerances and the upcoming oil formulas designed to minimize additives in the combustion chamber, it could only serve owners well to have better filtration.
