Also, noted on the Purolator filters., I have been using them for years and this is the first time I have read something negative. I will definitely look into this more..

Same here. Been using them forever on both my cars.

Jmhm: I am out of ideas... Maybe there is not a oil psi issue at all?

Maybe its the design of the MDS lifters themselves-->Very tiny openings and clearances in which oil just has a very hard time lubricating? I don't know!

Without Chrysler or the Dealerships being upfront and honest with us...We might not never know...

One thing we do know thanks to Burla-->Moly seems to quiet the pain! I also know extra Zinc will benefit as well...

Viewing many of the Ram/Challenger/Charger/Hemi forums a few of these engines developed theses noises while using the specified oil which has been recorded as having 272 ppm of moly. Granted there are different grades of Moly being Used within all the Oil Companies but 272 ppm is way above the average.

One thing I keep reminding myself is-->Many Many Many Hemi engines on the road today never develop this issue! I know some of these owners don't have enough cents to pay attention... But for the vast majority there are ony a rare few who report it...

I noticed on Sunday after a 15 minute drive on the highway my pressure went down to 23 at a stop. I knew I've seen it low I just couldn't remember how low. I take it to the dealer for oil changes and I pay for Penzzoil synthetic. I can't say what's put in but I pay for that. Whatever weight they recommend....

^^^Yeah that's way too low, mine will be around 45 at idle. Although sometimes my idle drops to 500rpm instead of being around 650rpm, and the pressure will drop to 37 or so with the lower rpms (which is driving me crazy).

It was around 35 when I checked today. Don't remember my load at the time.

2014 Ram 1500 5.7 27,000 miles - I checked my oil pressure today. The coolant and oil were around 200 degrees and my oil pressure was 37 at idle and 53 while driving. I`ll check it again when it really hot out and see if there is much of a difference. I have fresh oil in it and used a mopar 4892339aa filter. I used 5w20 Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic. I wanted to use the Ultra but they were out of it at the time.

Old post revival. But I seen you say penzoil ultra. Right now amazon had penz ultra platnium for like $24.99 on back order for 5 quart jugs. Then penzoil has $2 off a quart maximum 10 quarts, so comes out to 14.99 a 5 quart bottle, also amazon has a $2.50 off coupon so is great deal like $11.50 a 5 quart bottle of 5w20 shipped. I may not get it for a month, but worth the wait for later oil change with the great deal. I bought 2 to cover the $20 max rebate from penzoil. The newer label bottle is $27 with coupon for $2 off and $10 rebate, so still great deal at $15 ish a jug

Screenshot_20180408-130448.png Checked my oil pressure at idle and driving after running 15 minutes on drive and sat at 49-51 psi almost entire time, I have a 13 5.7. Even at 600 rpm idle my oil pressure stays over 50 psi. I have zero hemi tick, I use mobile 1 EP with mobile 1 EP oil filter (5w20) and a few ounces of lubeguard biotech to add moly to oil. Truck is 2013, 5.7 with 40k miles.

I couldn`t find it for $24.97. I only see it for $30.96 with the $10 rebate. Do prime members get a better price? Walmart has it for $24.97 but no mention of rebate.

Hmm maybe, I do have prime. As you see in screenshot. One I bought says out of stock, but will ship in 1-2 months, but there is 5w20 pup in stock with new label for $27, $2 off and $10 rebate. Must be a prime deal. If you look on penzoil site on rebates, will tell you which stores are involved in rebate. To get the extra $2 - 2.50 off on amazon(I guess with prime) you have to purchase separate, if you add 2 to cart you only get it off once.

Will start looking at oil pressure more, other day looked it close, but only drove about 10 minutes, then returned home and stayed around 50 entire time even at idle in park and in gear, would go up about 5 psi while driving. I spent day watching psi, from city to freeway to idle. Lowest I seen was 41 psi at idle after getting off freeway at stoplight, but slowly moved up to 50 area, on merge went up to 70 but normal it stayed 50 psi area.

With (Transdapt 1127) oil filter relocation kit, at idle fully warmed up I sit at 47-48, cruising at around 70mph about 52.

To me and the info I have ...the exhaust manifold is suspect ..if you read about the problems with the cast iron log manifold breaking bolts because of heat the manifold is about the size of one header pipe looking to me like it is pretty seriously restricting the flow of hot exhaust out of the cylender head causing excess heat and breaking bolts ..what else is all that effecting ???. I am looking into a set of short tubes because I don't like what I see with the stock manifold .

Just like to add to this topic as I recently had an Issue with a check engine and made my way to this forum page ( thanks all for all your input!!) I had an error code P1524 -
Oil Pressure Out Of Range Camshaft Advance / Retard Disable. My pressure when the engine was warm to normal temps was 26psi idle and 33psi when driving highway speeds. MDS needs at least 36psi constant to enable. ( I could really careless for it cause mine is disabled but the check engine does not work well with my OCD)

Oil change was less than 5000k ago and used a Wix oil filter 57060 on mobile 1 full synthetic 5w20. I swapped for a Wix 57060xp and kept the same oil as its practically new and my pressures now sit at 38 psi idle and 51 psi driving highway.

Cleared the codes, no more check engine. Hope this helps other people who are in a similar boat.

cheers
