You might be able to with a heat gun. But a oven will be your best option to open them

Make shift oven...

Grab a medium or large box from Lowe’s (whichever one has the blue outline), a piece of pvc (6” long or so )pipe that large enough for the tip of a heat gun to go into. Some hvac aluminum tape. Cut a hole around the bottom side of the box for the pvc to go into snug.. then use the hvac tape to tape and seal the box. I then use a cheapo meat thermometer stuck into the top and monitor temps that way.. sometime you gotta pull the heat gun out some of temp get to high etc.

I work on the road most of the year and only go back home every month or two for a week at a time so this is how I’ve managed to do it in a hotel room without spending a fortune.

Using just a heat gun you’ll screw those housings up.. permaseal needs constant and several heat cycle most times to break it lose its to easy to heat and melt the plastic up.

Thanks, that's what I was originally thinking on doing but want sure if it would work. Any idea on the ideal temperature and amount it should be kept at that temperature for the best success.

Reach out to RusslRam. He's done plenty of headlights and can probably give you some pointers.

220-240 is ideal. 15-20 mins intervals. Permaseal takes a few cycles to usually open but sometimes you get lucky and they crack open easily others times you got show patience. The biggest thing is to not force it if it feels like it’s getting hard again throw it in for another heat cycle.

This, I had to heat cycle at least 4 times at about 240 degrees, the permaseal would cool off before I could get the lens released all the way around.

Is there a reason you dont want to stick them in the oven? I just took mine apart and kept looking nothing else popped up beside a oven. Took my time and kept heat cycles shorter to make sure it wouldn't melt. The wife was pretty pissed since we just put in a new fancy range lmao.

Use the oven. A little unnerving your first time, but no big deal in the end. Did 4 of them for my first time not too long ago.

It will sound funny but what are you doing with the final product? whatever you get out of those headlights better be good considering the headlight suffle you’re making... I can imagine the fumes around the house won’t be healthy either.
