With a 1.25" lift how much of the rear seat clip is still in the bracket?

Not sure exactly, a pretty good bit though. I'll snap a pic when I get off work in a little bit.

Nothing much to show for today. Took a few steps back actually...

I sold the DLS 3" mids, tweets, and x-overs......... And the 8"s.

But, i did get the HAT L3s in. Here they are compared to the stock speaker..

Little monsters. I didn't want to give up the DLS but because of their size I was forced to.well... I'm glad I did. The L3s take more power, play lower, and have a MUCH more natural tone than the DLS. These play like a champ down to 150 hz and really brings the sound stage up quite a bit. Only had a few minutes with them before I had to yank the 8s out the doors.

I impulse bought a set of morel 8s the other day that I found on ebay brand new for really cheap. I'd have to redo the baffles completely bc they are a lot wider then the DLS but very shallow.

I hear they're beast on the low end but I'm searching For something that won't cause me to redo the doors. Maybe can use them as trade bait.

Oh yea, Here's where I'm at with the amp rack...

Hit up the top with some primer after sanding. I'm in search of some charcoal microsuede. Any recommendations?

I sold the DLS 8s but yes I'm staying with 8s in the doors. Trying to find a replacement at the moment or decide if I want to just throw the morels I have in hand in there and see how I like em

Would like some HAT L8s but they're a tad too deep.

Yea, rode around 1 day with only tweets and dash speakers in. Can't take it any more.... Managed to get 1 morel in tonight. The morels are almost an inch wider than the DLS. A lot more calculation had to go to make them fit. Luckily they're only like 2.5" deep. I'll get a few pics up tomorrow.

Also ordered some suede fabric for the sub box and amp rack. So that should be done by this weekend. I hope

I know you mentioned earlier in this thread that you were shooting for ~1 cu ft of space in the sub box... any idea what you ended up with?

I've been quietly following your build, i'm not going as far as you did with it, but enjoyed the sub box build. I'm wanting to do a similar setup.

^^^Thanks

Had about 1.1ft^2 before sub displacement. Prob .95 ft after thn polyfill helps so sub prob sees just about 1ft or so

Productive night was productive...

Rushed home with my 1 door speaker bumpin. Managed to get the other one in fairly quickly. no need to show how i did it again...

only pic. verrrrry close to kick panel, which means verrrry close to inner door panel but no fitment issues there.

First off, the lexan cracked and didnt fit flush enough in some spots so i cut a new peice...

then some dynaglass to make the fit tight...

Next i stapled the LED strip to the underside of amp rack cover. Not sure if i ever showed it but i routed the edges for lexan to fit under it...

Amp rack is basically done. Im waiting for suede to come in to cover the top and thats a wrap. Now the sub box.

Heres the mock up of the center piece that will be carpeted to break up all the surface area of all this when its done.

Now all that is left is finish up both beauty panels. Sand a little. Attach LEDs to sub side. Glue in neo magnets to hold em all on tight. Then wait for suede to arrive and cover them. oh yea and wire up LEDs.

Gotta tune amps for new Morels. Fired em up to make sure they work but thats about all. Low end did sound a little more promising than the DLS, but too early to tell.

depending on when suede gets here depends on next update. so hurry up UPS

Nice work. I'm not really into the car audio thing, but I'm curious to see the finished product.

This is an awesome DIY! I really like how it turned out. What does it sound like with everything in?

Thanks man, this build has def pushed the limits on my patience. I usually lose interst in these projects quickly and just rush to have it done so i can move on to the next one.

nothing annoys me more than spending a day or longer working on a single piece, only for it to not turn out how i had visioned then having to start over. With this one, i managed to get over it...somewhat

When this ones done, I dont want the guilt of knowing it could have been better so im taking my time...trying to take my time.

Thanks! hopefully you will like it more when its cleaned up and %100 done.

As far as the sound goes, its easily the cleanest most well balanced system ive had. The LPG tweeters and L3 midrange are so clear and detailed without being "in your face". Ive heard so many little things in the music that i never knew were there before. Having mids up in the dash that can handle 100 watts and play down to 150 hz with ease, does wonders for the soundstage. Its high and airy but can still reach high volume without fatiguing the ears.

Ive had 8's in my doors before and will have it no other way from here on out as a love a good strong midbass that you can feel. I havent had much time tuning the morels yet but can already tell they play lower than the DLS which is a big +. I find this helps to blend the subwoofer with the front stage a little better. The DIYMA 12" is just an amazing sub... you can hear bass but dont hear the speaker...if that makes sense.

All in all I love the sound. Loud. Clean. Detailed. Sounds like the band is playing on my dashboard.:rocking:
