Should I dump the exhaust and have it hidden or have it exposed like it is now w/ the exhaust tip?

I want to dump mine. I have it out the factory pipe right now. So I can't really tell you what one I would prefer because I am still factory in looks.

But I would say dumped

What's the reasoning behind dumping it? Just to make the back look cleaner and more crisp?

I say dump it, it looks cleaner with no exhaust visible IMO. But check your local laws, I know in PA the exhaust has to exit someway at the body line, that is why mine is turned out in front of the rear tire and not dumped

I don't know where you would even have to look. For PA it is in the vehicle code for state inspections.

I tried the DMV website and googling about 60 different times. I have no idea. I thought it said "away" from the body of the vehicle but I haven't read it in a while, and they change the laws every 5.6 minutes so who knows lol

Just get the cutout and don't worry about dumping it.

Back when they had inspection here, the exhaust had to exit past the cab only...so when people dumped them they just got an intermediate pipe, off the muffler with that and dumped it off the intermediate pipe. Really helps with fumes and drone in the cab too, having it dumped past the cab.

All pipes carrying exhaust gases from the motor shall be constructed of, and maintained with, leak-proof metal. Exhaust pipes shall be directed from the muffler or mufflers toward the rear of the vehicle and shall be approximately parallel with the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and approximately parallel to the surface of the roadway, or shall be directed from the muffler upward to a location above the cab or body of the vehicle so that fumes, gases and smoke are directed away from the occupants of the vehicle. Exhaust pipes on a passenger vehicle shall extend to the extreme rear end of the vehicle's body, not including the bumper and its attachments to the body, or shall be attached to the vehicle in such a way that the exhaust pipes direct the exhaust gases to either side of the vehicle ensuring that fresh ambient air is located under the vehicle at all times. The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles may adopt regulations in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 to establish safety standards for passenger vehicles equipped with exhaust pipes located in front of the rear axle.

At least I know stacks are legal. So IF I ever DO get a diesel

But, as for what's in red, I guess it's illegal. I do see some trucks around with dumped exhausts though..
