I hassled with a dealer about a truck on his lot but we couldn't come to an agreement. I asked him about ordering one and he said that I could order one but that the current incentives may not apply. He said you get the incentives from when the truck is delivered and not from when it's ordered. Is that right or is he blowing smoke? Seems to me when the deal is struck that's the rules you should play by regardless of when it's delivered. Or do you not make the deal official until after you see the truck?

If the truck came in and they didn't want to give me the agreed upon incentives, I would just leave and let them keep it

I do know that a lot of dealers have deals for vehicles on the lot.

I'm sure if it was on a truck and almost there they would deal. But another dealers lot or have to be ordered no dice.

By only have the good deals and incentives of vehicles in stock, they turn over product and make sure they have new fresh models on the lot.

That said. It is there lot and I would think they could make any deal for any price they want.

I was told I'm eligible for the incentives at time of ordering and if better incentives came along before the truck was mine, I'm eligible for those.

Same here. In my case they found an extra grand what I picked up the truck.

That is how it works. The dealer or salesman is trying to pressure you. Tell him kiss your ass for lying to you. Go somewhere else.

Same here. In my case they found an extra grand what I picked up the truck.

Yes , once you put a deposit on your order it is locked in. Only change to be made would be for a better incentive when it arrives.
My truck went up $1500.00 from the time I ordered it until delivery. This was because of the exchange rate and low Canadian dollar. But I didn't have to pay the increase.

I spoke directly with Chrysler, to get the incentives at time of order the truck must be placed in your name. Hopefully that means "customer name" not "sold to" at the top of the build sheet. Mine shows the dealer in the "sold to" spot but my name as the customer. It also says "sold order".

Yes, incentives are locked in when you order the truck and if they are better when the truck comes in, you get those instead. You can call the Ram incentives department at 800-227-0757 to confirm. They are very helpful.

Yeah i kind of thought he may be blowing smoke. We came within $750 on a deal for a truck on his lot but we both refuse to budge any further. The dealership is offering $7000 or a little more off msrp right now. Thanks for the replies.
